Once again spoiler alert for anyone who has not seen beyond the dragon wars arc.
It was 3 am in crocus the capital of Fiore, Gajeel and a small black exceed walked along the dark streets back to where they were staying. The pair were tired from their ordeal of the past two weeks which had started with Gajeel participating for the guild in the grand magic games and followed by a battle to end all battles against dragons. The week that followed had been quieter but quiet was an unknown word at the party they had just come from.
"God am I glad to be out of that damn palace" Gajeel moaned "Those wizards can't go two seconds without getting in a punch-up".
"I saw you throwing quite a few punches as well" Lilly replied.
"Yeah well that sting had it coming and salamander's lucky his not eating my fist every day with all the stupid crap he does!"
The night hadn't been a total loss at least he had gotten to spend some time with Levy; they had even managed to have a dance together not that Gajeel cared he was just making sure she was protected. (Protect Levy) his mind raced back to the day where he had made that vow and he had nearly killed himself trying to keep it. His trip down memory lane came to an abrupt end when he caught the shadow of someone in the nearby alley. With a dragon slayers nose, it wasn't hard to find out who it was.
"Wondered when you'd show up, come to cry about how I fooled your dumb arse?"
"Well, I wasn't too surprised it seemed a little too convenient to have the perfect spy" replied the figure coming into the moonlight to reveal raven tails guild master Ivan Dreyar.
Lilly was quick to respond and was in his stronger form with a sword at the ready in seconds. Despite not being told the details of the mission Gajeel had told Lilly about his undercover work early into their partnership. Lilly had given Gajeel his space when it came to the job but he was not about to let Gajeel handle this alone.
"Its two on one and taking into a count we have a dragon slayer on our side it wouldn't be a successful move if you were to engage us" threatened the exceed.
"Two against one? yeah right" Gajeel ventured while sniffing the scents around the area.
While at raven tail he had picked up the scents of the guilds most elite members and excluding Ivan's on his north he could smell one on his south, west, and east. Looking around he saw the figures of Flare Corona, Kurohebi and Nullpuding standing around them.
"How are you all here I fought the custody enforcement unit took you away," asked a slightly stunned Lilly.
"Our actions may have been against the rules of the games but not against the law so we were quickly released" replied Ivan
"So now you are here to try and get payback on the legendary iron dragon slayer!" joked Gajeel with a smirk.
"Thanks to you fairy tail knows all about our little guild and while I am tempted to show you a good beating you have more value to me alive".
Gajeel and Lilly looked intently at the 4 wizards waiting for Ivan to elaborate on his decision.
"The battle with my son made it painfully clear how little power we have when compared to those fairies if I am going to obtain the lumen historie I need a more subtle approach and for that, I need my spy to resume his post." "Once we have you back at our headquarters I'm sure our methods will help convince you".
Gajeel had seen enough of the raven tail guild to know that they showed no mercy in there torture methods people who went into that guilds hall didn't come out and the ones who did were shells of what they used to be. Gajeel was confident he could stand whatever they could do to him but that didn't mean he was just going to hand himself over without a fight. "You think your lightning arse son was strong well I'll show you what a proper dragon slayer can do COME AT ME BASTARD!"
