Sirius
"Sirius..."
I whisper the name as my eyes lingered on his face. His sharp features could be spotted from a mile away. And they had, I reminded myself. He stood with a group of people, all looking at him as he made wild gestures with his hands. Showing off again... but that's what I loved about him.
I loved everything about him.
Once again I stared at him nervously. It's been so long.
"Too long."
"I sooo can't wait for Mother to come home," I announce in a over the top English accent. "Doesn't she know WE need attention?"
I recall the lines easily from memory. I had been learning the script for around 3 months, reading it every night. I was ready for this. It was my moment.
"I like, so can't totally wait until she brings me home more taffeta!" This was said by my sister in the show. We were playing snotty little rich girls, who had never had anything but the very best. Like Narcissa I thought to myself.
I was playing the ice queen to perfection. Whilst acting I studied the audience. There were two single mothers, their toddlers climbing all over them, a party of young girls each with pointy wizard hats on, a family, a few more groups of parents with their children, also a few grandparents as well, even a group of muggles. And two boys... I studied them more closely.
They had to be around my age. One was very good looking and had shoulder length, straight hair, the other's was chaotic and black.
What were they doing at a play for Cinderella? I questioned curiously.
Snap. Into reality. My sister was looking at me expectantly. My line.
"I like, can't STAND these awfully drab clothes she puts us in! Talking about drab clothes. CINDERELLA!!" I screamed the word, demandingly. "When have you finished with our laundry?" Pause. "Do really think we would do it ourselves!"
The audience laughed at the characters overdramatic personality and selfishness.
The boys were laughing too.
That long haired one... he was different. He had his left ear pierced; I'll remember that for later... Only he seemed like the last person to be an arrogant thug, the type of image you conceive when thinking of any male with a piercing.
He was thoroughly immersed in the play.
How could any teenage guy find this so interesting?
We make eye contact as he catches me staring. I quickly drop my gaze to the ground. I hope the audience hasn't noticed the quick change in character... I hope he hasn't...
I gather myself quickly.
"I'm coming!" Cinderella yells of the stage. She comes on to make her huge entrance. As the audience claps, I suddenly realise why the long haired guy is here...
We were introduced after the show, by Mathilda, who played Cinderella. And he was everything I dreamed him to be. Smart, funny, easy going... even a little cocky. I learnt that he usually helps with the shows, hence the enthusiasm.
I took an immediate liking to him.
He hadn't changed. Apart from the obvious year and a bit difference. He was still smiling, still a little cocky, and his eyes still laughed.
I had ended up working with him and his friend in the next show I did. I had had a fling with his untidy haired friend as well. I don't know why...
No, that's a lie. I do.
Because I could never have Sirius. And that was the worst torture of all, as I knew I would always love him.
"HEY!" Sirius had spotted me as he walked down the grand stairs of Hogwarts. He had that stupid grin plastered on his face as I jogged up to greet him. "Lily Evans. Gee, it seems like forever!"
And I knew I had that stupid grin plastered on my face as well.
Maybe this time it will be different...
A/N – Soppy, romantic, a little overindulgent, beautiful. I don't care what you think, but please, pretty PRETTY please REVIEW!!!
