Under Stars
The sky was wide and almost crowded with stars. Luna felt Ginny's warm shoulder next to her's, and the grass poking through to knit their blacket. They had been silent for many moments, but Luna was still trembling, either from the cold or from the fear that Ginny would never reply. Maybe she shouldn't have said anything, after all Ginny didn't deserve the weight of another's feelings. But Luna had kept it to herself for so long, and that night had seemed as good as any. She hoped she hadn't ruined this perfect moment.
Alone under stars, she waited unmoving for a response, any response. But Ginny hadn't moved away, that might be good.
"I have so much to say. . ." Ginny trailed off, "I can't put this into words," she sound choked. Luna turn on her side and Ginny responded in kind. Even in the moonlight Luna could see Ginny's round brown eyes, in the dark they were honey, so sweet so sticky. They left traces in Luna's soul.
"You don't have to say anything," Luna whispered, sorry she had said a word. Luna cast her eyes down, only to feel Ginny's hand, cool like the night air brush her hair behind her ear. Ginny didn't have to speak for Luna to know what she was asking, she gave a little nod.
