There are many responses one expects after an apology. Things like, "Thank you for apologizing," and "I accept your apology, make sure it never happens again," come to Adrien's mind. Whenever he's had to apologize for something, mostly to his father, those are the responses he received. Not that these were bad answers, they just didn't make Adrien feel better after apologizing.

Which is why he was mortified when he discovered he had accidentally ripped the jacket that his girlfriend, Marinette, had just made for him. It was a wonderful coat, perfect for fall in Paris — and Adrien let it get caught on the branch of a bush and rip. He looked at the ripped coat in horror. He didn't know wether to be relieved or scared when he remembered that he was on his way to Marinette's house now, and he was already late so there would be no disposing of the evidence. He shrugged the jacket off of his shoulders and continued on towards the Dupain-Cheng bakery.

He gave a quick greeting to Tom and Sabine before heading up to Marinette's room above the bakery. He walked into Mari's room with the offending coat hanging from his hands and his head down low.

"Oh! Adrien, there you are! I was starting to wor—what's wrong?"

"I messed up, Mari, I didn't mean to. There was a bush with a branch and it caught and now it's ruined!"

Adrien couldn't identify an emotion on his girlfriend's face as she asked, "What's ruined, Adrien?"
"Irippedthejacketyoumademeonmywayhereandididn'tknowhowtotellyouandimsosorryiwontdoitagain." The words were out of Adrien's mouth like a shot, Marinette only caught a bit of it. She was able, however, to piece together what he had said and realization dawned on her.

"This jacket?" she said pointing. When Adrien nodded mutely, she gently took it out of his hands and examined it. "Oh don't worry about it Adrien! This si such an easy fix you'll be able to have it for your walk home tonight."

Adrien blinked at Marinette with his mouth agape. "You're not mad?"

"Are you kidding me? No, of course not; it was an accident! It wasn't like you ripped it on purpose." Adrien broke into a huge grin as he watched his amazing girlfriend fix his amazing jacket.

On the way home that night, Adrien smiled to himself with the knowledge that there are more ways to respond to "sorry".
