Chapter 2: For Hibari Kyoya

For six year old Hibari Kyoya, weapons are deadly things in his hands. Weapons mean broken bones and bruised flesh for his enemies, and weapons mean he can protect.

For seven year old Hibari Kyoya, weakness is the loneliness one feels when you're hated by your peers for being stronger than they'll ever be. Weakness is the wetness of eyes and chocked back sobs.

For eight year old Hibari Kyoya, abilities are something you work for. Abilities are nurtured by the sweat you pour and the blood that flows, it grows in training day by day, week by week and year by year. For him, there is no such thing as a natural ability.

For nine year old Hibari Kyoya, the strongest, the true strongest, came in the form of a smiling, braided man, who danced in the wind like a bird. True strength fees like awe as he watch the man destroy everything in his path.

For ten year old Hibari Kyoya, herbivores are weak, little animals that's only there as fodder for the strong. Herbivores are the weak bullies and pathetic delinquents that he crushes under his heels.

For eleven year old Hibari Kyoya, crowds are unnecessary groups of herbivores that bands together to feel safe from predators. Crowds are herbivores that talk too loudly and laugh too happily when together. Crowds that make his head spin his stomach twist and cause his vision to darken.

For twelve year old Hibari Kyoya, carnivores are the strong, the ones who fight and win. Carnivores are the ones who wield weapons without fear and radiate power with each breath. Carnivores aren't red-robed men who disappears without a trace.

For thirteen year old Hibari Kyoya, pride is defeating everyone and taking control of a school in your first year. Pride is a city where he is the ruler. Pride is being able to walk outside with people breaking crowds and making way. His pride is the discipline he practices that made him the strongest.

For fourteen year old Hibari Kyoya, power is the mixture of ability, weapons and pride. Power is being obeyed without question and being able to protect your own. Power means never being looked down on, power means no one can make you feel weak.

For fifteen year old Hibari Kyoya, respect is to be earned and not be freely given. Grudging respect is given to a certain pineapple for beating him, tricks or not. Tolerating respect is given to the horse herbivore whose whip only bites hard when his family is near. Respect is for the herbivores who follows him despite his violence and oddness, but his highest and deepest respect is to be given to a pathetic, whining, crowding herbivore/occasional carnivore. The brunet he saved from bullies more times than he cared to count, earned it through training until he puked blood and fighting to the death in order to protect the ones he claimed as his. The brunet earned it for standing up despite being beaten into the ground.

For sixteen year old Hibari Kyoya, his pack is his most important even if he won't admit it. His pack won't hate or fear him for his strength and attitude. His pack will welcome him back with open arms and his pack is his home that he can come back to no matter how far he flies.
