The Sweetest Sake

Shunsui wasn't entirely sure what his Nanao-chan was up to. She was up to something though. She had excused herself from his birthday dinner early with an errand that needed to be done. Their had been an almost teasing lift to her voice when she said that though, and Shunsui had spent most of the rest of the meal wondering what his lady was up to. As far as he knew, she had already given him his birthday present: a lovely tokkuri set patterned with cherry blossoms. So it probably wasn't a gift she disappeared to get. But he was at a loss at what she could be up to.

But he headed back to his own quarters in a good mood. It had been a good birthday, and the fact that he still had most of his friends around to celebrate with had been welcome. The Winter War was over, and they hadn't suffered too many losses. It was dark by the time Shunsui reached his home, and the stars were bright. He blinked in surprise when he realized that there was a light on inside. He hadn't left one on when he'd gone out tonight. But he didn't sense anything wrong, so Shunsui made his way inside if a little warily.

However, he froze as he entered his living room. A single lamp illuminated the woman seated on the floor. His Nanao-chan was dressed in a pink kimono he had never seen before and holding a bottle of sake. She smiled at him.

"Welcome home, Shunsui."

He blinked, and then his lips curved into a slow smile. "Nanao-chan. Didn't you already give me a birthday present?"

She laughed and patted the floor beside her. "I am not about to attempt to seduce you in front of other people."

He laughed and sat down beside her. "My Nanao-chan is going to seduce me?"

She kissed his nose. "That was the general idea. Sake?"

"Only if you'll share it with me."

Nanao poured a cup, took a sip, and then handed the cup to him. Shunsui stole a kiss before taking it. He took a sip of the drink, and his eyebrows went up. He had no idea how she had gotten Byakuya to part with this particular vintage, but he wasn't going to complain. Not when Nanao had somehow managed to get one of his favorite (and one of the rarest) sakes. He slid his fingers between Nanao's. Finishing the drink, he set the cup aside.

"So, Nanao-chan, seduce away."

She blushed, and Shunsui couldn't help stealing a kiss from her. Her lips tasted of the sake as well as Nanao's normal sweetness. He pulled away and tucked an errant strand of her hair behind her ear. He smiled at her.

"I'll tell you a secret, my Nanao. All you to do in order to seduce me is walk into a room."

This time she was the one who kissed him. One of her delicate, tiny hands slid into his hair as she pulled him closer. It barely took any effort on his part to scoop her up and set her in his lap. Nanao's lovely dark hair had been left down, and Shunsui tangled his hands in its silky strands. Nanao was soft, warm, and willing in his arms. She tasted sweeter than any sake that he had ever drunk and was more refreshing as well.

Deciding that it might be best to move this to another location, Shunsui pulled away from Nanao and handed her the bottle of sake. Then he stood, sweeping her up into his arms.

"Shunsui?" Nanao was a little breathless.

He ducked his head in order to kiss her. "I still have to unwrap my birthday present, now don't I, Nanao-chan?"

He carried her towards his bedroom; this definitely was his favorite birthday present.
