DM The New Baby
Margo, Edith and Agnes were playing in the garden one day when Edith bumped her head. ''Are you alright Edith?'' Margo asked. ''Yeah'' Edith replied, rubbing her head. She could feel a lump growing where she'd hit her head. ''There's a baby growing in there'' she told her two sisters. ''Babies only grow in ladies' wombs'' Margo laughed.
Meanwhile Lucy had been working with Gru decorating the spare room. She was going to have a baby soon, but she hadn't told any of her daughters yet. Just then the three girls appeared at the doorway. ''Mum what's happing to you?'' Margo gasped, noticing her mum's stomach suddenly had a bump in it.
''I'm having a baby!'' Lucy declared. ''Really?'' Margo asked. ''Yes'' Lucy answered. ''But when?'' Agnes asked. ''It's not long now sweetie'' Lucy said, ''that means you're going to be a big sister!''. Agnes sighed happily. Now she wouldn't be the youngest anymore.
''What colour are you painting the baby's room?'' Agnes asked. ''Paint it black like a ninja'' Edith begged. But Gru shock his head. ''That's too dark for a baby Edith, it needs a nice bright colour''. ''How about white like a unicorn?'' Agnes suggested. ''Dat's too pale'' Gru said ''I think yellow like a minion would be just right for a boy or girl''.
Later on as the girls were playing on their bikes, Edith caught sight of something in the window of a toy shop''. It was a silver ninja belt and it looked so smart that Edith couldn't take her eyes off of it. ''Wow that is cool!'' she exclaimed. When the girls arrived back home. They saw Marlena Gru outside with Gru and Lucy.
''What's going on?'' Margo asked worriedly. ''Lucy is going to have the baby'' Marlena replied. ''So I'm going to look after you girls while she and Gru are at the hospital''. Gru helped Lucy into his Grumobile. ''Wait for me!'' Edith panicked. She hurried to the Grumobile, but Gru said, ''Marlena will look after you, it'll be better''. ''But I want to come too'' Edith whined, her eyes filling up with tears, ''you're my parents''. Gru squeezed her tightly and said 'Oh Edith it's ok you'll see us right back before you know it''
Edith watched her parents drive away. She'd already had enough. Tears started to stream down her checks and her nose started to run. Marlena scooped her up and carried her inside. ''Everything's changing'' Edith moaned, ''Nothing's ever going to be the same again!''.
''Your parents will still love you even when the baby is born'' Marlena said gently. The next morning Marlena took the girls to the hospital to visit their parents and to see the new baby. Gru meet them outside one of the wards, ''Girls you have a new baby brother, his name is Tommy''.
He led them over to Lucy sitting in a hospital bed. ''Aww!'' Margo sighed ''he's so tiny''. ''he looks the size of the minions'' Agnes declared. Edith couldn't help cracking a smile, Tommy was so sweet! ''Tommy has some something for his big sisters'' Lucy added, handing each of the girls a present.
Edith pulled the paper off hers and gasped. It was the same ninja belt in the toy shop. It would look very smart with her ninja outfit. She wondered how an earth did Tommy know she wanted that? ''Tommy'' Edith whispered, ''you'll make a great ninja one day because I'm going to teach you'', and Tommy gurgled with delight.
