A girl from the high house merandus, has a secret. A secret that can't stay hidden for long. What will she sacrifice to keep it hidden?
My name is Melissa. I come From the high house merandus. My father is a whisperer and my mother is a nymph. But I'm neither. I'm both. it's a secret that few know. When the ones that now know about my rare double abilities they assumed that one would barely function. They were wrong again. I'm the best whisperer in my house and my abilities with water are almost as strong even though I barely get to use them.
Nobody knows what went wrong. Why I have two abilities. All the others like me died within a week. I don't know why I'm still alive. "Mel!" Someone shouted. I snapped my head up to look and see who had brought me back to the present- out of my troubling thoughts. I saw my friend Evalaine standing in the doorway, her emerald eyes bubbling with excitement. She had curly locks of dirty blonde hair and her skin wasn't as pale as mine but she was dazzling. "Come onnnnn Mel hurry up!" Evalaine said playfully. "Well at least I don't take 3 hours fixing my hair." I teased.
I put on my favourite short dress, made out of thin silver silk that you can see through, layered, and navy blue branches sprouting up from the bottom like a tree. Until earlier, I had forgotten about the brunch that the king and queen we're hosting. Unlike Evalaine, I was not excited for this. It would just be one more chance for me to mess up in front of everyone- or worse. Revealing my second power.
Most of the other high houses were already there when we arrived at archeon. I was placed with Evalaine so I didn't have to talk to too many people.
I stepped out onto one of the balconies to get some air. It was my lucky day. I just happened to step onto the balcony with the prince, Cal on it. He had already heard me so it was too late to leave now. "Your majesty," I curtsied. "It's fine you don't have to do that," Cal blushed. "Not enjoying the party I see?" He chuckled. I smiled. "I just needed some fresh air." "Have you been to the archeon a lot? I don't recognize you." "Not really.. I'm not a big fan of people I guess.. But my Friend insisted I came and I would be dead if I didn't so here I am." "Ah. If I had a choice I wouldn't be here either. You clearly know what my name is but what's yours?" Cal said.
"I'm Melissa but everyone calls me Mel." I gave a little smile. Before cal could respond a sentinel stepped onto the balcony. "Your majesty you're presence is required in the hall immediately." the sentinel said with authority in his voice. "Goodbye Mel. See you at the next one." Cal chuckled.
