Prologue:

Darkness flows and ebbs throughout the Clan. You can see it in their eyes, the jealously that every cat carries within them. The amount of pain cats feel when they get into things they don't want to get into. They pretend it gets better but it doesn't. They're moments they'll never forget. Moments that will last forever and never die away until they die and dissolve from StarClan itself. The friend that's not the friend, the friend who's the enemy, the rival. Every cat has one.

But me?

It's hard to tell.

"Get out of the way, Redpaw!"

"Redpaw's weird, isn't she?"

"So adorable though. . ."

"Redpaw's so cute! Just look at those eyes."

I'm not sure where my place is in GorseClan. I overthink things. I'm a cute, fluffy black she-cat. Things don't turn out how I expect them to turn out.

But there is a murderer in this Clan.

A cat who killed my father.

I know who it is and I hurt her every single day for the pain she's caused.

"Redpaw, you're always getting so many scars and wounds. You need to stop venturing out of camp."

I nod silently, not caring for who the cat speaking to me is.

That cat I hurt? That's me.

I'm Redpaw, and I am the worst cat in the world.
