He stood at the end of her driveway, shifting uneasily in place. In his right hand was a bouquet of lilies- her favorite. His other hand reached up to run through his hair but stopped half way when he remembered how long it had taken his uncle to smooth it down.
Zuko took a deep breath, then started walking toward the front door, his free hand clenching slightly. He had thought about this day over and over again in his head, shouldn't he be more prepared? He hadn't even felt this nervous when was kicked out of his father's house. Already he had made it to the door, the "Welcome!" sign causing more freight to him that its message meant to convey.
The moment of truth, his last chance to walk away, the most nerve-wracking part of his plan…
Zuko shook his head, patting his hair lightly to make sure the gel kept it in place, straightened his shoulders-
And knocked on the door.
Immediately it swung open to reveal Katara, her hair pulled back in its customary braid, necklace catching the light from outside and glowing, sea-blue eyes as bright as her smile.
"YES!" She cried, practically jumping on Zuko as she hugged him around the neck.
The boy was justifiably confused.
"Yes to what? I haven't said anything yet," He asked Katara as she took the lilies from him.
She giggled, "I got a text from Suki a few hours ago saying you had asked Sokka if you could ask me out," She shook her head, her smile never fading, "You've always been so old fashioned."
