Cousin To Sirius Black By HPFangirl71
Sirius Black looked up as his cousin Narcissa approached. He was surprised at her appearance here tonite.
"What are you doing here?" he demanded of her.
" Can you forgive me? Can you not understand why I made such a choice? "
He looked his cousin over, she'd changed since their childhood. Her marriage to Lucius Malfoy had made her somehow colder. She no longer held her youthful fire. He loved her still, but didn't know if he could ever forget or forgive the horrors of tonite. He'd lost too much. His heart was drowning in a sea of sorrow. He didn't have any room for the possibility of forgiveness.
"Does he mean that much to you that you could sacrifice two innocent people?"
A guilty look seemed to ghost across her face before the coldness reappeared.
"I love Lucius, he means a great deal to me. I didn't know Peter was the Potter's secret keeper. He was afraid of the Dark Lord. He spoke of his secrets, only saying how valuable they were. I only hoped to bring Lucius favor with our Lord. I never meant for anyone to get hurt."
"Well the road to Hell is paved with good intentions and yours were far from being purely good. You were selfishly thinking of yourself, like a true Black!" he spat out at her.
"Family is everything Sirius, so be upset with me all you want. It doesn't change my duty to my husband. Your duty to your friends must run just as deeply."
"Friends! Because of Voldemort and your selfish manipulations, two of my friends are dead! Their son, almost killed too in the process! You stand here with your head held high asking for forgiveness on the blood of those who can not give their forgiveness. Be gone Cissy!"
She looked hurt but held her regal poise.
"I never meant any harm and I'm thankful baby Harry was spared. I'd die if anything happened to my Draco."
Sirius watched her leave as he mourned the loss of his closest friends, James and Lily Potter. He knew what he had to do. Narcissa had chosen her side. He now needed to exact revenge for the Potters on their former friend Peter Pettigrew…
