The Bootlegger's Spaceship

For a minute I thought we had landed safely. Then there was a creaking and we tilted to one side slowly. Outside the ship there was a noise like a thousand beer cans were all getting crushed at once and we fell over on our side.

Carey was closest to the door and he popped the handle and stuck his head out.

"What the hell, Carey." I yelled. "We're supposed to test the air before you breathe it, not after."

"Sorry, I forgot."

"You OK?" I asked, all concerned like

"Seem to be. Thanks for asking, Jethro." the idiot said all soppy faced.

I snorted. "Well I guess we can skip that test."

Montel stood up and tried to pull his way out of the ship. "Where you going?" I asked.

"Out." He answered.

"Why?" I asked.

"It stinks in here. I wanted to see what we got out there."

We all jerked in surprise when something beat on the side of the ship. "Come out of there, you idjits." A voice yelled.

"Holy Hell, Jethro," Carey said. He was the only one with his head actually outside the ship. "You guys better come along. He's got a gun."

I stood up and took a look. Carey was right. There was some guy out there in a stained Trucker's cap waving a shotgun in Carey's face.

"What planet do you think we're on?" Montel asked. He eye-balled the guy's shot gun.

"Let me take a look." I answered and started pulling myself up the side of the ship to the hatch which, right now, was on the ceiling.

Outside I looked around. We seemed to have landed in an alien scrap metal yard. Our landing had knocked one of the alien guy's pile of things that looked a lot like cars over. I swear they were cars, I even spotted a Ford Falcon, proving what, I don't know. I looked around trying to spot an Edsel. I know I saw a Gremlin.

"Come on, now." The guy with the gun said and waved it to tell us which way to go. We all put our hands up and headed for the alien's house. They were some more aliens on the front porch.

Once we were all on the porch everybody sat down where there was a place.

"OK," shot gun alien said, "Who are you guys?"

I stepped forward "We come in peace."

The shot gun waving alien snorted, "More like in pieces if you keep it up."

"No, I mean it." I went on. "We're from Smith County, Mississippi in the U.S. of A. of the planet Earth. We got caught bootlegging and the town council decided to get rid of us by shooting us off to explore space."

None of the four guys on the porch seemed to know what to say. I looked them over. The alien with the gun looked close to normal. The alien in a raincoat had glowing blue eyes. One of the younger guys was real pretty and looked pregnant. His T-shirt rode up over his belly. The last alien was really tall and big and kind of scary and he was lovingly polishing a gun. He seemed to like that gun a lot.

"My name is Jethro and over there is Montel and the guy still trying to figure out how to sit down is Carey" I said and waved my hand at everyone. Carey attempted to fall down the steps while craning his neck to look at the pregnant alien.

"Well, I'm Bobby and I own the place"

"I'm Castiel and I am an Angel of the Lord."

"I'm Dean and I'm currently not doing anything because I'm pregnant.

"I'm Sam and I'm the baby daddy. I'm also his brother."

I thought about it all and decided it was no stranger than three Bootleggers from Mississippi in a spaceship.
