"Dave…" John's tears soaked into his best friend's shirt as he held his dead body close to him. He begged Dave to come back.

"Dave…. God, Dave please… Wake up Dave, it's not funny." With every word, John cried harder. It was no use, Dave was dead. His best friend for as long as he could remember, gone. He let the blood soak into his clothes and cover his hands. He buried his weak head in the dead body's bloodied chest. His best friend's white hair was splattered with red- his own blood. John couldn't bear the sight. He shut his eyes tightly. He pretended that the cold body was warm and alive.

"Dave… I love you."

When John opened his eyes and saw Dave, he couldn't hold it in. He cried until his head hurt and he felt like he was going to pass out. He laid down next to Dave's body, putting his arms around him as he would have if he had confessed to Dave when he was alive. He knew that Dave liked him back - his subtle flirting and constant staring - and he'd been holding back the confession. He wished that he could go back and tell him. He wondered what would have happened if he had confessed. Would Dave and him be together? Would they have kissed and been happy?

John woke up, cold. He had fallen asleep? When he opened his eyes, everything flooded back to him. Seeing Dave die, being there to hold him until he died. A hot tear rolled down his cheek. I can't cry again… John thought solemnly, but the thought came too late, as he was already sobbing once again.

"Dave…" He repeated his best friend's name over and over, crying harder with every syllable. "Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave…"

"What do you want, John?"

A loud gasp escaped John's trembling lips. He stood up, and looked behind him.

"Dave!" He ran to his best friend and hugged him tightly. "Dave…" John didn't realize how much he appreciated the warmth of Dave's chest, hearing his heartbeat.

"John, it's just another dead Dave. It's okay… I'm here…"

"Dave… Don't leave me again. Never let me see you die again."

"I… I won't."

"Dave… I love you."

Surprised and slightly taken aback by this remark, Dave jumped. He held John closer.

"I love you, too, John."
