*Smack*

Charles was hit in the face.

"Maybe next time you'll learn to call when you're going to be late!"

"I'm sorry dad. I swear it won't happen again!!" Charles pleaded.

"You'd better or else it'll be even worse!"

When his father had left the room Charles wept his eyes out. So much pain his father had caused him both emotionally and physically.

What's wrong with me? Charles wondered. Am I really this awful a child? He's my father and even he thinks I'm awful. I wish I could figure out what I'm doing wrong.

"Charles you're not going to school tomorrow! Remember if anyone asks you fell down the stairs. GOT IT!!!!"

Charles nodded in agreement to that request.

Two days had passed. Charles heard the doorbell ring. He answered the door.

"Hello I'm Alyson Williams. I'm with child services. Charles you have to leave this house immediately. Your father is unfit to be taking care of you. We're going to take you to a new home."

Charles thought to himself. It had to have been Stephanie. She was the only person I'd ever told. Why did she do this? She promised not to tell anyone. Now I'll never see my dad again. And it's all her fault.

Although Charles had now been filled with anger and sadness deep inside he knew it was the best thing for him. And he also knew that he still loved his dad despite the bad choices he'd made.
