"You're up surprisingly early after last night." Luke grinned as Lorelei sat down at her regular table.
"I had to go do some 'Parents of Alumni' thing at Chilton." Lorelei sighed as Luke filled up a mug and set in front of her. "You'd think that after they graduate, you could stop having to be involved, but no! It's like I've joined a cult---"
"Just order your breakfast." Luke replied as Lorelei reached for her foot with a look of agony. And I'll bend the rules and let you take off your shoes and put them on the chair. I know I stepped on them a lot last night."
"You wild man, Luke!" Lorelei grinned as she slipped out of her shoes and pointed her toes at Luke. "Thanks though. I'll have some pancakes, please." Lorelei grinned, looking around for the normal patrons. "Business a little slow today?" Lorelei called over to Luke, standing behind a empty counter.
"You could say that." Luke snapped back, turning to walk into the back.
"My poor toes. Don't hate me, toes!" Lorelei said as she massaged her foot and waited for her pancakes.
"Maybe you need to go home and sleep. Toes don't talk." Luke said as he walked out from the back room, carrying a plate.
"Maybe after I get some breakfast!" Lorelei whined. "It took long enough! Geez, just get some frozen ones at the market, Luke." The long haired brunette teased as Luke set down her plate.
"I'll definitely take that under serious deliberation." Luke said as he sat across from Lorelei, glad to have another moment, no matter how brief, with her. Little did Lorelei just how much Luke liked spending time with her.
"Aww, you decorated the pancakes fo---Luke, why is there a ring on my pancake?" Lorelei asked, looking up at the brunette haired man with a backwards cap on top of his head.
"Lorelei Leigh Gilmore," Luke said, removing his hat, taking Lorelei's hand and bending down on one knee. "Will you marry me?"
"Are you serious?" Lorelei asked, bending down to Luke's level.
"I have spent so much time with you since Rory left and I know now that I can't NOT have you in my life. This is the only way it's forever." Luke replied.
"That is the longest and most profound thing you have ever said." Lorelei replied.
"Thanks, but I'd like an answer."
"Oh!" Lorelei said, jumping up and Luke stood up with her. "Luke, I don't think I can even stand the THOUGHT of you not being with me forever." Lorelei said, blinking back tears. "Yes, I'd love to marry you." She replied.
"Thank you." Luke whispered as he choked back tears of his own and took Lorelei in his arms. They broke apart as they heard a smattering of applause. They turned to the window and saw the whole town clapping, cheering, crying, and Miss Patty tearing up that damn picture of Lorelei that she kept in her wallet.
