To Return to Leave Again

He'd fled the place. And now, he came back
to search: for more power, for his soul
for one of those he'd gained, off the track.
He thought he came with a stronger role
but, in truth, 'twas an ill-fitting cloak
and it tears easily, in the end
and in mud, tears and regret they choke.
Alone and powerless, he's to fend
for himself, but at least now the eyes
are clear, and his head and heart. The search
is now in earnest, and the time flies
but understanding comes with research
and experience. He leaves this time
with his power and soul both in prime.
