Unable to see, Edward Elric stumbled blindly through the freezing cloud of vapor rival alchemist Solf Kimblee had just transmuted.
"Mustang! Lieutenant! Where are you-" He was cut off as his foot discovered the edge and he tumbled in.
Edward yelp and landed with an "oof" as he made contact with the floor. Luckily for him, the floor was full of accumulated powder snow.
He managed to stand up and took in the state of his automail. It was fine for the most part, only there was a deep dent in his wrist, which must have short-circuited something, because it was, and he had to admit quite comically, spinning around which took away his ability to clap his hands and transmute.
He shouted, "Hey! I'm down here!" Hoping his comrades would hear him, "Make a ladder and help me!"
Two silhouetted appeared on the edge of the mineshaft.
"Fullmetal? How the hell'd you get down there?" replied a familiar baritone voice belonging to the Colonel.
"How doesn't matter, just get me out!" Ed screamed, beginning to grow red.
"Can't you just get yourself out?" The colonel replied lazily.
"I-I dented my wrist when I fell. It's broken." His face was fully red now. "Actually, hang on."
Edward found a a rock and banged his automail hand against it.
It stopped spinning, but now it was facing the other direction.
"Yes, I need help! Stop dragging this out."
The colonel raised a hand to face and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Okay, full metal, jus-"
He and the lieutenant shouted with surprise when the snow-covered earth beneath them turned into sand, accompanied by a crack-crack-BOOM and the flash of alchemical lightning.
They both crashed to the ground as Ed had, and a dark laugh resonated from above as Kimblee created an elegant staircase into the mineshaft
"Oh, I'm glad you all could join me," He snarled as he raised a red crystal and clapped his hands.
Kimblee laughed. "Farewell!"
