Title: Alone I Give Thanks Author: Sara Rating: G Summary: No one wants to be alone on Thanksgiving Disclaimer: I don't own them, and I never will. its so sad I know. Archive: ask first

Gil Grissom sat on the plastic chair wrapped in a blanket. It was a cold night in the city of Las Vegas. Colder than it normally was this time of year.

It was Thanksgiving. A day spent giving thanks for what you have, and spending time with family. He was alone, utterly alone. With no family to celebrate with.

It wasn't that he didn't want a family. Its just that he worked so much, and he never met the right women. Well, he had met the right one, but he didn't have the courage to ask her out, and he was sure she was involved with someone else. And why wouldn't she? She was so beautiful, not only on the out side but also on the inside. She was so kind, and compassionate every guy would jump at the chance to date her.

He laid his head back and breathed a great sigh. He looked towards the sky. It was a clear night. Not a cloud or star in sight. Correction, there was one star. One lonely, dimly lit star.

He thought how well it represented his life. All alone, no one to be with. Standing alone, its glow slowly fading. Eventually, it would burn out, no one would notice it had ever disappeared once it was replaced.

But he was thankful to be alive. Alone, and slowly burning out but alive.

Alone he gives thanks.

Sara Sidle sat wrapped up in a blanket, in her cold apartment. Yes, it was cold, but it was warmer than it was outside.

It was thanksgiving, and she sat completely alone, looking out he window. She hated to be alone. Thanksgiving was a special time that should be spent giving thanks and spending time with family.

She had always wanted to settle down, and have a family but she was practically already married to her work. She had found a man she had feelings for, but she was sure he thought of her more as a student than a potential companion. He always seemed to push her, and her feelings aside.

She sighed heavily and leaned her head back giving her ability to observe the single star suspended in the sky.

'That's me, all alone. Slowly fading away.' She thought to\ herself.

She couldn't take it. She had to tell him how she felt. She would rather live with disappointment than regret.

She reached for her phone, and held it for a moment so she could build up a bit more courage. Finally, she dialed his number.

He jumped from the unexpectedness of the loud shrill the phone signaled.

"H-hello."

This was it. This was her chance. "Grissom. Hi its Sara."

It's her. "What's up?"

"Can I talk to you about something?"

What could it be about? "Ok. Shoot."

"Grissom, I have got to tell you."
