It was a brilliant day in spring. Sunny, warm and bright in a way that hinted summer was just around the corner. Molto Bene. He walked through the park hand in hand with his beautiful wife and their little girl toddled along in front on unsteady legs. Rose had grown her hair long again and it reminded him of when they first met. Back when he wore a leather jacket, had rather large ears and two hearts that were raging with war and loss. Then he met a shop girl from London who changed everything. He hadn't realised he was staring until Rose turned and smiled "what you lookin' at me for?" her tongue peeking out from her teeth a little. "Well Mrs Smith" the doctor said putting his hands on her waist and pulling her close "As your husband I think it is perfectly acceptable and appropriate for me to be looking at you. In fact," he said lowering his voice as his eyes grew dark, his face inches from hers. "I find it difficult to look anywhere else." Rose bit her lip a little and them ran her hands through his gorgeous sticky up hair before kissing her husband tenderly on the lips. "Bit of a cheesy line that doctor" she smiled as he wrapped his arm around her and they continued their stroll. "Well..." the doctor grinned. "Can't blame a bloke, well half timelord half human metacrisis bloke for trying." "Billie!" Rose cried out breaking into a jog as the little girl wandered just a bit too far ahead for comfort. Delighted at the prospect of a chase the toddler began running haphazardly on her chubby baby legs letting out a peal of musical laughter. "Gotcha" Rose beamed wrapping her arms around her daughter. "Now what's my little badwolf up to then hm?" Rose crouched down taking Billie's hand. The doctor chuckled as he caught up. "Well she's definitely our daughter then Rose. You love the running too eh, don't you Bills?" The little girl looked up into her father's face adoringly and the doctor's heart melted. She looked so like his Rose. All blonde hair and smiles. And yet there was something about her eyes. Dark and beyond her years that reminded him of another home from long ago. "C'mon billie and we'll go to the swings yeah?" Rose said leading their daughter towards the play park but the doctor lingered behind for a moment watching his two girls. His two beautiful, brilliant girls. He didn't deserve them he knew. Not after everything he had done and everything that he was. And yet he had been given this chance. An impossible, wonderful chance at a forever with Rose Tyler. And he had never been more grateful. He did still think of his other self. Travelling in the tardis, most likely with someone new, saving the world and seeing the stars. He missed it, sometimes. He would be lying if he said otherwise. And yet here he was on the slow path, living the domestic life. Growing ever older, decaying, dying and that terrified him in a way that no monster or alien ever could. And yet, looking on at his two pink and yellow girls, he wouldn't have it any other way.
