So, this is a little drabbly fic that I thought up. I'm not really a shipper of the implied couple, but this plot bunny just kept biting me. I can't help it! Anyway, enjoy! Reviews would make me so happy, and you'd get a cookie :)
As he lay with his arms wrapped around the woman beside him, he couldn't help but think of the woman he wished she was. He wished that he was holding the girl he longed to hold. The one who had captured his hearts a long, long time ago. The girl he had left, then come back to so many times. The girl with the hair his long fingers itched to be buried in, tangled in as he kissed those lips that looked so incredibly soft. The girl - no, the woman - whom he loved. The woman that he had loved for her fire, for her spunk, for her strength, for her perserverence. The woman that, now that he reflected on it, he had loved for quite some time.
The woman that he was currently holding wasn't the woman he loved. No, that wasn't right. He loved her - to some degree. But he could never love her as much as he loved the woman who had borne her. The woman that he was holding had all of her mother's fire, but none of her striking features. The only thing that seemed to be shared was the pallid tone of their skin. At least his love could pull it off well. The woman that he was holding knew how to get out of a situation, but he couldn't help but think back when she saved him, but lost herself. The woman he truly loved with all of his hearts would've found a way to save him and herself.
Sadly, he could never be with the woman he loved, as she was already taken. Taken by someone who wouldn't hesitate to kill him. Sometimes, though, when her husband wasn't looking, she would give him a look. She would give him a look that made his legs go wobbly and make his knees go weak. She would give him a look that made him want to grab her and never let go. He would die for her. He probably wouldn't die for the woman he was holding right now. She died for him - that was the way it went. And who was he to change the timelines in such a way?
It would seem that he was stuck with this woman in his arms until he that day. Even then, he probably couldn't have the woman that he wanted.
He would hide it, though. Thankfully, he was a good liar, and he would be able to fake his love. She was so far gone that she would probably believe him.
The Doctor would be able to convince River Song that he loved her, even though he actually loved her mother, Amy Pond. And maybe one day, his Amelia would return his love.
Right, so, yeah, that didn't turn out as good as I'd hoped. I kept it vague in the beginning for a reason, though I'll bet you all figured it out before I had finished. Anyway, thanks for reading, and if you'll review, I'll love you forever!
