I wrote this a very long time ago. It was my first fic I ever actually wrote.
It's inspired by Valerie who wrote one like this, just different characters. It's also not very good. See what you think.
She was all he had, but still a mystery after she was gone. Tony didn't talk about Kate any more, because he didn't ever truly love her, just trusted her with his life. He couldn't tell Ziva what he was thinking about. For he worried she would make a joke of him. But, Kate was truly, his friend.
"Gibbs, have you heard from Tony? He has been very distant recently" Ziva asked in a worried voice. "No, Ziva. I haven't, DiNozzo's a big boy, he can take care of himself" Gibbs said in his fatherly voice. "I suppose you are right." Ziva replied. Although, she wasn't quite sure he was fine…
Later that day Ziva went to Tony's apartment; just to check on him like a good friend. She hadn't knocked on the door, but Tony had already opened it; knowing she was there.
"Hello Tony." Ziva said in a low voice.
"Hello Ziva" He casually replied.
Ziva walked in and saw Tony's apartment a tragic mess. She slowly walked up to him, looked in to his beautiful green eyes and said "Tony, are you okay? He just stared at her not saying a word, because he was afraid he might cry, and he couldn't let Ziva see him like that.
Finally Ziva said to him "You can trust me, I will not tell anyone what is wrong."
Knowing Ziva would just keep worrying about him, he decided to tell her something…
"Okay fine, my cat Feisty Jungle Kitty In The Front Back Yard ate my goldfish Sam. I just had a funeral for him. It was so hard for me." Tony said trying to bring humor into the situation. But Ziva did not smile. She just looked into Tony's green eyes getting closer and closer, so worried about him. "Tony?" Ziva said even more worried. "Please, you can tell me."
Tony then knew what he had to do, he would tell Ziva the truth about Kate, himself, and how madly in love with her he was. So after minutes of silence, he finally says,
"Ziva, I miss Kate, she was the only thing I had. She was always there for me and always had my back. But now… she's dead." As the words flow out of his mouth Tony bursts into tears, Ziva tries to calm him but it's no use. After several long minutes of crying, Tony finally says, "But, none of that matters any more, because I have you, Ziva David… I am in love with you."
Ziva looks into his eyes, loving that he trusts her enough to tell her this, and because he is just so gorgeous. Finally, after minutes and minutes of silence, Ziva replies with a soft,
"Tony, I am in love with you too."
