Next To Me
She was terrified, absolutely bloody terrified. She was getting on a plane. She was ok on planes if she someone was with her but she was alone and about to sit next to a stranger.
Her hands gripped the arm rests, her fingers digging into the plush leather.
"Do you not take off well?" asked a voice.
She glanced next to her and there sat a brown haired hottie, who looked like a boy from high school – Troy Bolton the captain of the basketball team. She prayed the years had mellowed him and made him kinder than the mean and spiteful boy he had been in their teens years.
"I'm not a good flyer but needs must," she answered. "I do better with company."
"No boyfriend?" he asked. "You're such a beautiful lady."
"I just broke up with someone," she answered.
"Oh sorry," he said.
"No it's ok it wasn't going anywhere and he wasn't actually that nice of a guy in the end either," she answered.
"Well then good for you," he smiled. "So tell me about you."
She glanced out of the window and noticed they were moving quiet fast probably about to take off. Her heart clench and she shook in air.
"Don't focus on that," he whispered, slipping his hand in to hers stroking his fingers lightly across her palm. "Talk to me you won't notice."
So Gabriella began talking about her life and though talking and Troy's fingers stroking her palm she didn't even notice the take off.
When she stopped talking, as the air hostess began talking to Troy she glanced out of the window to see they were in the air and she felt nothing – she felt fine.
Troy turned his attention back to her and squezzed her hand to get her attention.
"Thank you," she answered.
"No problem," smiled Troy.
"I have a confession," she said. "I know who you are we went to high school together."
"Oh did we know each other talk?" asked Troy.
"Yes and it depends what you mean by talk. Lets just say you've matured and are a lot nicer now them back then," she explained.
"I bullied you," said Troy. "Not my proudest time. There was one girl in high school Gabriella Montez I was such a dick to her I wish I could apolgize to her."
"Apogoly accepted," answered Gabriella.
"Gabriella! God I was such a bastard back then," muttered Troy.
"No worries, no harm no foul and no last damange," answered Gabriella.
"So what did this bloke do to you?" asked Troy.
"Classic in bed – my bed well our bed – with my secreaty. I had to quiet my job, leave my house and pack up," answered Gabriella. "I moved for him and now I'm doing it again."
"Move away from the memories," nodded Troy.
The flight continued and Troy talked about his life since high school and his reason for his trip to Texas – he was also moving there.
It was then though talking about work and living in Troy's they reliazed they would be neighbours.
"So this journey has brought you literally next to me," said Gabriella.
Troy nodded. "I guess."
From that day the never looked back to the past. Until they headed to Albuquerque and East High for the ten year reunion.
Now they were no longer next to each other – in living terms – they were much closer they lived together – they were together.
When they returned to their past – with their southern drawl – they were able to say they lived in Texas with their husband/wife.
No one noticed the slight bump of a Gabriella's stomach.
And it all started when they found themselves next to each other.
