AN: I love Rebekah. I really do. I love her relationship with Klaus. I love her as a character and I only wish I could do half as much justice to her, but this is what you get. First TVD drabble. Fuuuuun.
It was not Mikeal. Not the man they had been running from for years, always hiding, never staying in one place all because the man who murdered their mother was coming after them.
Nik had never enlighted her to the fact that the murderer was always right beside her.
She gives him everything, including herself. She is deceived, but only by Nik. He's always been the one person able to lie to her. Because she trusts him, more than anyone or anything. It makes her vulnerble to him. Why would he have reason to lie?
Because he killed their mother.
When the newest doppleganger shouts the words at her, Rebekah wants her to be quiet. She does not want to hear these things. Her gift has always been tricky. If a person believes what they're saying, then it's not a lie.
However, the words ring true and Rebekah cries for the first time since Chicago. And before that? Well, it's much too long ago to count that.
She hates dying. It's much too dead.
Rebekah can feel her finger twitch. The last things remembers is that doppleganger bitch stabbing her in the back. Everytime before, it had been Nik's betrayal. But to have someone new, take that away? To have someone else in control of her life?
It wasn't right. Rebekah doesn't want to awake.
Not when she can sense her brother's presence. Not when she knows he's betrayed her past forgiving. Her mother is gone and she wants to be gone too.
She only wished she could say 'thank you' when he puts the dagger back in. Rebekah does not hear his promise.
