Too Little Too Late

Clark learns a lesson in timing.
A/N: Please review, even if it's to tell me how much you hate this ficlet and how much I suck.

Clark was always too late. Especially when it came to Chloe. This time was no different. He didn't realize how he had felt about her, he didn't know how much he had loved her. And not platonically, not platonically at all; he had loved her in that deep way that you love a soul mate. And it wasn't a crush either, like his infatuation with Lana, which lasted until he actually got to know her and saw that maybe she wasn't as perfect as he had always thought. This was true love, the kind that never leaves you. He hadn't realized the depth of his feelings until -of course- it was too late.
Chloe had always been there for him. Always. Whenever he had needed her, she was there. She had always been willing to help him with anything and get him the information he requested. And he had abused that. He used her as a back-up and purely only when it was convenient for him. But still, she had stayed. No matter how badly he treated her, she never turned her back on him, never permanently anyway.
The one time she hadn't been there was a few years ago. She had finally gotten sick of Clark's treatment of her and left him. He had simply pushed her too far and she had finally pushed back. Even then, she forgave him eventually, she always did.
She had been the best friend he could have asked for. Forgiving, loyal, kind and basically just fun to be around. And Clark, in return, was the worst kind of friend you could have asked for. Forgetful, neglectful, not so loyal and a user. He only used her when he needed her and once he was done, he set her right back on the shelf to await the next time he would stop making moon eyes over Lana Lang, his dream girl, long enough to remember Chloe even existed.
Clark's timing had never been all that great. He always seemed to be belated in his realizations.
It hadn't been until she was lowered into the ground that Clark realized he loved Chloe. And by then it was too late.

I know it's short, that's why it's called a ficlet, rather than a fic. Again, I beg you to review. I really want to know what your opinion is. So please, take the minute or so and review. Thanks, Kelly
