Done to the song "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas.
You…
Ranma put down the English science book after completing the chapter on the fourth dimension. Smart man that Carl Sagan. English wasn't so bad after he had gotten the hang of the sentence structure. A bit backwards, but still. College had driven it into his skull almost as hard as anything the Old Ghoul could accomplish.
You…
Shacked up in his dorm at the local community college, Ranma had spent the last year and a half studying hard to get his teaching degree in physical education. After all, with today's standards, you couldn't even run a dojo without one.
You…
Sitting down in the armchair that took up the left corner of his tiny room, Ranma lifted the compact disc player off the side table beside the cushiony piece of furniture. Popping open the lid, he ejected the CD that was currently occupying the devices playing compartment. Opening his binder of CD's, he slipped the old one into its usual spot and flipped through his selection, trying to find something good to listen to. Getting to the back, he came across the CD that his friend from a couple rooms over had given him. It was a compilation of some of the latest English songs. Shrugging, he clicked it into the player and slid his headphones on, deciding it would be good practice to listen to something in English.
You…
A steady rhythm started up, picking up right away with bass and drums. Ah. Techno. He was familiar with that. Nodding his head a little along with the beat, Ranma moved from his comfy chair to the small side kitchen to fix himself a drink.
You…
The bass stopped and only the electric organ beat out a soft melody in the background, as the vocals kicked in again, repeating the word 'you'.
You…
You…
You…
Ranma thought it was an odd but cool piece of music and sat back again as the lyrics picked up.
You… are still a whisper on my lips.
A feeling in my fingertips…
That's pulling at my skin.
Listening closer to the lyrics, Ranma began to feel a deeper meaning coming from them.
You leave me when I'm at my worst…
Feeling as if I've been cursed…
Bitter cold within.
Ranma stopped dead where he was. This song was starting to really strike home.
Days go by and still I think of you…
Days when I could live my life without you.
Days go by and still I think of you…
Days when I could live my life without you.
Without you…
Without you…
A lone tear trickled down his cheek. Raising a hand to brush the offending droplet away, he idly wondered how this one foreign song had made such an impact on him. He was starting to cry and he didn't even know why. Looking over to the side table he soon figured out why. There was a picture of all his friends and family from back in the days of good old Nerima. The only thing was, he was not male in the picture.
Days go by and still I think of you…
Days when I could live my life without you.
Days go by and still I think of you…
Days when I could live my life without you.
Without you…
Without you…
He couldn't really explain it, but somehow, he was bawling his eyes out now. For some reason he just couldn't stop crying. Holding the picture in his hands, he cursed the woman who had taken so much from his life.
Without you…
Without you…
