Seven souls, and seven Tales. Each child that fell down into the underground had their own story, their own tales. Here, these stories are brought fro the dark into the light.

Quiet down now children, I have a story for you. A story of fallen children, mountain kings, and determination.

Long ago, two races ruled over the earth. Men, and Monsters. One day, a human child fell deathly ill, a child of a human king. This child had a friend, one they loved dearly. A monster child. They were at the child's side when they died, begging the child to stay with them. As the soul rose from the human's body, thinking they could put it back, grabbed it. The monster child absorbed the human's soul, and in a panic, scooped up their friends body, and hurried to the king's throne room.

"I am so sorry!" The transformed monster cried, tears running down their face. "Their soul was floating- I thought I could put it back- I'm different now- I'm so sorry!"

The king and queen were astonished, but did not attack the monster. They realized it was not the monsters fault. Instead, they consoled them, and mourned the human child. The monster set themself to protecting the kingdom with their newfound power. This is what the human would've wanted, they told themself.

The people of the kingdom were not happy at all. They knew the monster could destroy them all, if they wanted to. The people feared what would happen if the monsters started killing and absorbed the souls of humans. Scared, one day they attacked the monster that had absorbed the human's soul. Without mercy, more and more humans joined in. Panicking, the monster froze, and did not fight back. They tried fleeing, running to the castle, but the crowd of angry humans chased them all the way there.

"Kill them!"

"They're dangerous!"

"They'll kill us without mercy!"

"Die already!"

The monster yelled again and again to please, stop! Stop hurting them! They don't wanna fight!

But the humans did not. Soon, the monster, who was still just a child, was curled up on the stone of the castle courtyard, covering their face and crying. They gave up defending.

Hearing all the commotion, the King and Queen rushed to the courtyard, just in time to see the monster child smile and turn to dust. A heart, white with a red aura, rose into the air, and with a resounding CRACK! split in two, shattering before their very eyes.

That very day, the King and Queen were overthrown by the people.

The new king declared war on monsters, and the first battle was fought the next day.

The first defenders of monsters were the imps, goblins, and skeletons. The imps and goblins were wiped from existence, but some skeletons, if few, survived. The second wave defenders were the catamounts, Flame monsters, and corporeal ghosts. Catamounts came dangerously close to disappearing, but through hiding and fighting techniques, they survived.

At the end, the monsters were defeated. Through a treaty they were forced to surrender, and give up their land. They were forced underground, beneath a mountain, and were to be trapped there. 7 great human magicians gathered their power and put in place a magic barrier that would keep the monsters underground for generations. Only a power equivalent to seven human souls would be able to break it and set monsters free.

The human children were warned to never climb the mountain, or else they would be trapped underground and may never get out.

Slowly, the memory of monsters under the mountain began to die out, replaced by bedtime stories.

Until one day, a human child decided to climb Mt. Ebott.
