AN: This story centers around Orihime Inoue as a hollow in Hueco Mundo, and I've got big plans for this story. It's my first attempt at a story in a while, so please tell me what you think!

Chapter 1:

Nothing

The white sands are endless, only odd crystal-like structures break the surface of this vast wasteland. I'd been walking for the longest time- minutes, hours, days, years- I didn't know. There was no time in my memory that I hadn't been walking this endless desert. There was no set destination, only aimless rambling for reasons unknown to me. This place is empty- only the moon held my gaze for more than a moment as I wandered the desert in search of something, something real and substantial other than the endless sands or the unchanging moon. I didn't think about the chance that I might never reach this idea that has planted itself so deeply in my mind; there is no need for such thoughts, for I have all the time in the world to thin peace of this world seems so delicate, so very easily broken that a single word could shatter everything and brings about destruction and carnage.

A step past a rather intricate crystal structure brought me to the edge of an immense crater in the sand, of which two beings stood facing one another in the center. One figure, wearing a white and black uniform, sported a wound on its hip, just below the sheath of a sword. It was more human-like than expected and was panting, bent over with exhaustion from some unknown exertion. The other hollow stood confidently a few feet away, its pure white wings outspread, body covered in horns made of bleached bone.

The injured being lifted its sword to the winged hollow, its face one of defiance. It took one step forward and was met with a fist through its stomach. Blood spurted to the ground and the injured hollow gave a look of disbelief, then fell as the other being withdrew its fist. Its death was swift as the winged hollows mouth widened to great lengths before swallowing it whole.

The sight both excited and repulsed me, a strange mix, for I knew not how to act on those feelings. I had never seen another creature in this world, which caused the situation to seem somewhat abnormal. The chances that I had come upon these two creatures right before one's death was quite strange.

My curiosity got the best of me as I slowly crept along the outside of the crater, eyeing the winged being with interest. It seemed to notice me by the abrupt rigidity its body took on as it twirled around to see me. Its yellow eyes followed me as I circled the crater almost lazily, sizing me up by my physical appearance. I was no fool, making the first move would be the biggest mistake in this situation, so I continued my trek around the crater. The hollow suddenly jumped, flapping its wings to gain altitude out of the crater, its eyes not once leaving me.

"State your purpose, hollow" The creature stated stonily, surveying its surroundings before bringing its eyes back to me. I stared for a few moments in deliberation at the hollow, wondering whether it was worth the effort to speak.

I stood up straight, directly facing the hollow, and simply stated, "I wish to kill you," before releasing the hold on my reiatsu and jumping into the crater to meet the winged hollow half-way, claws ready to rip and tear.
