Grimmy: Firstly and most importantly this is a birthday fic for SilverxDawn. I do hope you enjoy it. Secondly, this is also a bit of a spin off prequel or whatever to Silence. It's not mandatory to read that but, meh. Oh, it should be noted that Dick is around the age of nine in this.

It was truly amusing. The way his azure eyes twinkled as they widened and his lips parted in astonishment. He blinked a few times in succession before repositioning so that he was sitting on his knees, feet pointing out straight behind him. He leaned forward and smiled a little half smile.

"So you're tellin' me you were in a war?"

"Indeed I am Master Dick." Alfred's lips twitched up into a quirky smile. His eyes crinkled a bit as he refilled Dick's glass of tea. The boy was so excited that he hadn't even noticed.

"And you saved a princess?" Dick exhaled loudly through his mouth, whistling a little. He smacked his thigh and grabbed another one of Alfred's famous teacakes. They weren't really famous but Dick liked to believe they were. He was sure they would be if the old man ever decided to sell them.

"I'm sure she's a queen now. Why, she was no older than you are at the time. I believe you would have enjoyed her company. She was quite the charmer." Alfred chuckled as Dick's nose scrunched up. A light flush settled on his cheeks and he shook his head rapidly.

"I don't think so." Dick folded his arms across his chest as if to solidify his statement. "Girls can be really annoying." He rolled his eyes and stuffed the remaining bits of crumpled teacake into his mouth. "Sho, wha happun nexsh?" He forced down the lump of half chewed cake.

"Don't you think you should wash that down?" Alfred asked.

Dick coughed a little and reached for his cup of tea. He swallowed a few mouthfuls before gagging. "Ick. Can't believe you willingly drink this stuff." He made a few more choked noises. "Tell me what happened Al!"

"I really do wish you'd stop calling me that. And nothing happened. I took the little lady home and her parents thanked me."

Dick's face fell. "Aww... That's it? No reward? You didn't become a knight or nuffin'? They didn't like take you to some awesome place far away and give you like a magic scroll that held the secrets to the universe and stuff?" He pouted a little.

"Yes, no, no, and most certainly not." Alfred harrumphed and sipped his tea.

"Aww man." Dick leaped up from his seat. "I'mma go play or sumthin'. That was really lame Al." And he took off, a playful grin on his lips and a wispy giggle trailing behind him before Alfred could remember to chastise him.

Grimmy: So again, Silver, I hope you enjoyed this. Something short, little, and fluffy. XD Sorry that it is so short, I've been having a Robin block.
