OK so this a random scene that happens between Lily and James as they are studying for their OWLs... in 5th year obviously :P well, its quite short and simple but cute :)
There she works, bent over her paper. Her face bears the look of concentration. Sunlight filters through the great window creating a halo around her head. Glancing back at my paper I see a splotch of ink from where my quill was dripping.
"Hoy, Padfoot pass me a parchment would you?" I whisper, Sirius merely grunts and I reach into his bag.
I scribble down my notes from earlier and rest my head on my hand and my eyes find their way back to Lily. Her red hair flows down her back, rarely have I seen her wear it up, her hand reaches back to put a lock behind…
Poke-poke. I feel my shoulder being poked and my body lurches slightly forward.
"What?" I whisper furiously to my left as Remus tries to poke me again.
"James, you've been staring at her for a half an hour now, use this time to study, OWLs are coming soon."
"Moony, she is so much more interesting then History of Magic, I'll study tomorrow!"
Remus just looked at me sympathetically and shook his head going back to his own work. I on the other hand was left pondering about whether Lily was more important than History of Magic, and finally deciding I glanced one last time at her beautiful figure and got back to my work.
"Lily! James is staring at you again!" I couldn't help but feel a fluttering in my stomach as Lexi told me this.
I do not like him! I repeated this firmly, ready to pound it into my head He's is a big headed handsome prat who is really nice... I-i- mean annoying.
"Yes, and? Should that be of any interest to me?" I ask Lexi
"Lily I'm not stupid, no one could have missed the look that just passed on you face" She replied smirking.
"I have no idea what you are talking about!" I huffed and got back to my work.
If only James were sitting in front of me, that way I wouldn't have to turn my back just to look at him. I feel my head wandering around as I became even more distracted and somehow I find myself staring at him. His messy black hair, ruffled from him constantly running his hand through it. The glasses on the tip of his nose seem to be falling off and I have a sudden urge to go fix it. I see him shift and his eyes flick towards me smiling that mischievous smile. Embarrassed I quickly look back at my paper scolding myself for being caught staring at him.
I could feel eyes staring at me, and my quill stops writing. I was used to people staring at me but this felt different, I quickly risked a glance up and see Lily staring at me, pleasantly too, not the normal scowl. She smiles back nervously before turning immediately around in her chair completely red faced.
I smile to myself, this is the start of the beginning, and as long as Lily can look at me without scowling permanently I will call that an accomplishment and hopefully I can ask her out before the end of 6th year. Glancing back at my work I finish up contently, my day seems to have brightened up considerably since she looked back.
You see what you do to me Lily? A simple smile can make my day and give me hope for a new beginning.
