Summary: Sometimes handsome and charming doesn't work the way you think it should. Things aren't going Gippal's way and when he decides to give up. Well, fate steps in.
A/N: I was inspired for the little fic while watching the last episode of Dead Like Me Season 1 (OMG, such a great show cries) And I could just see it as something our couple would do.

It was not a good night to be Gippal. The bar was full. There were plenty of chicks and he was trying to be charming and flirt, get a date or maybe a girl in his bed, okay mostly a girl in his bed. Yet, for some reason, tonight it wasn't working.

He sighed, and fiddled with the stud in his ear. Maybe it was time to give up for the evening. He scoped out the bar one last time and saw Rikku in a corner booth. Maybe things were looking up. She was a friendly face and a friendly ear. He sauntered over, opened his mouth and Rikku stood up smoothly and-

"What was that for?" He rubbed his cheek.
She pushed his hand away, went up on tiptoes and kissed the red mark. "It just looked like so much fun!" She grinned at him. He sighed and she sat back down, sliding over and patted the seat. "Bad night?"
"No luck at all." He touched his cheek again. "You didn't have to join in." He sat down next to her.
"Stop rubbing it. You'll make it worse."
"That's bug bites."
"The more you touch it, the longer it will stay red." She reached over and tugged his hand down. "Maybe it's your technique."
"There's nothing wrong with my technique."
She shrugged. "Then it's the girls." Rikku fiddled with one of her braids and looked over the table towards the other patrons. "They don't want what you want. You're either hitting on the claimed, those who build machina for the other team or the brainless." Her eyes roved to a few of the girls. She shrugged again. "Oh well, the night is still young and so are you."
"Says the girl half a year younger than I am." He said. He wasn't sure how he felt about her disregarding his abilities to woo women.
She rested her head on his shoulder. "I didn't say anything about me. We were talking about you."
"Past tense. So, now we're talking about you." He looked down at her.
"I'd rather not."
"Where's your date this evening?"
"Right here. I just paid all the other girls to slap him so he'd come be with me. He's more stubborn than I thought."
He stared at her. No- Uh uh, "You did not." He forced out and jerked his shoulder, forcing her head away.
She giggled. "I had you going though." He glared at her. She grinned and continued after a short pause. "I only paid half of them." She laid a hand on his thigh and peered up at him through her eyelashes.
He was forced to silence once again. She gradually moved their faces closer together, watching him carefully to see what he would do. And was hook up with her such a bad idea? He was looking for a girl and if it smelled nice, was pretty and Rikku shaped. Did it really matter? She had made a very good point. They were young and so was the night. It wasn't like they were looking for love. She pressed her lips to his and he responded to the kiss, deepening it. She moved into his lap, all warm and pliant.
It was over too soon for his liking. His lip twitched upwards into a smirk. "So, you have ideas for the rest of tonight?"
She peered up at him out of the corners of her eyes, smiling. "Yeah."
He grabbed her wrist, stopping hand from hitting his cheek. Finally, one hit he'd managed catch. "I think there's been enough of that."
She laughed, broke his grip, placed her hand gently along his cheek and kissed him again.
