The rain fell hard on the tin roof of a haunted train station the team was investigating.
"Sam for base."
"Go for base." Riley responded.
"Jackie and I are getting a lot of stuff here but we just saw something over by the train tracks. Can somebody go investigate that?"
"What exactly did you see?"
"Some flashes of light."
"Okay well we'll take care of it; Zack's out changing the tapes in some cameras."
"Okay."
Riley stood up and grasped KC's hand.
"What are you doing?" KC asked shocked.
"C'mon, let's go investigate." Riley said with a smile. KC stood up and Riley took off with her into the rain fearlessly. For some reason, KC didn't mind the rain now. They continued to race towards the rusted tracks, the glistening pavement reflecting the moon and their shadows. KC caught Riley's eyes for a split second as they continued to approach the tracks; she saved the moment in her mind. She put it aside as they reached the tracks.
"Okay, so reports here are what Jackie and Sam saw; shadows and lights." Riley reminded her. KC didn't respond as something caught her mind. "Case?"
"Shh!" KC shushed him and continued to listen in the distance. She pulled her head back and looked into his curious eyes. "I hear a tra-"
Suddenly the sound of a train roared and two jaunty lights that looked like possible headlights came into both of their presences. A gale force wind suddenly came, as if it was the train roaring past them except 10 times stronger. They both ran for cover into the small building behind them. KC could hear her walkie screeching as someone was trying to communicate with them but reception failed. The minute that that had all happened seemed like the longest minute of their lives. As it all died down, Riley cautiously emerged out into the rain. KC stood up from a crouch and balanced shakily on the old door frame. Her hands shook furiously, which was weird. She usually didn't shake, just get nervous. Riley turned back to face her and took her hand. Immediately, she felt a little braver.
"Okay, that wasn't scary." KC said sarcastically.
"Don't worry." Riley comforted.
"It's so easy for you to say that." KC commented.
"Why?" Riley questioned.
"Because you're so fearless. I don't know how you do it." KC admitted.
"I do have fears Case, but I'm not scared of doing this." Riley said as he pressed his lips to her. That was one thing that she was fearless enough to do back.
