Charybdis Fountain
Water standing alone, like when he left her- EnglandSingapore, HumanAU
"Where are you taking me?" the seventeen year old girl struggled against the tight grip on her hand. She had been dragged out of her house when her 'sister' pushed her out and locked the door. It was idiotic for her not to keep a key underneath her carpet like all the other shows had shown. But living in a safe country all her life had influenced her not to do those sorts of things.
"To some place you'll enjoy, trust me on this on Chole," the blonde said to her, pulling her against her will. The heat was killing the both of them, but the man was very determined to show her the one place that he loved. Maybe they were not so different after all, even if she did not want to admit it.
"Arthur, don't you hate me?" Chole gulped when she asked the question. Her reddish brown hair was tied into a braid that day, so luckily, she was not sweating much. Even though she knew it was useless, she still tried to struggle out of his grip.
"Where did you get that idea?" Arthur stopped all of a sudden, making Chole bump into him. Chole looked at his face and saw that his expression had softened. His emerald orbs were staring at something in front of the, but Chole did not even want to know what it was. Instead, all her attention was on the face that she had once knew before. Before all of the dumb rubbish with other girls happened…
"Why wouldn't I?" Chole asked, her eyes brimming with tears. Her heart ached, pounding loudly within her ears. "It was you who said that you hated me in the argument we had. That was the last time we talked to each other, remember?"
Arthur forced himself to look away from the girl, focusing all his attention on the fountain in front of him. "Look in front of you," he commanded, forcing his voice to sound stronger than his heart at that moment.
With slight hesitation, Chole lifted her head and looked in front of her. She was in front of the Seaham Hall, in front of the Charybdis Fountain. Unaware of her own actions, she walked towards the flow of water. Her hand reach out, wanting to touch the water, but was stopped by another hand gripping it again.
"It's not possible to touch the water. It is encased in a clear plastic type polymer with an air-core vortex that rises every 15 minutes, giving this fountain the look of the water standing alone."
"Alone, huh, just like me when you left"
An awkward silence filled the space in between them when Chole said that sentence. Neither of them knew what to think. Chole did not mean to say that out loud, Arthur did not mean to make her feel lonely.
"Never mind that, it's not good to stay stuck in the past…" Chole looked away after saying that, trying to hide a blush that was making its way up her skin.
"Hey, I'm sorry."
"For what?" Chole continued to stare at the fountain, trying to ignore Arthur's stare on her. A hand cupped her face gently and her brown eyes were met with beautiful green eyes. Chole bit her tongue to resist letting a happy sigh out.
"Everything. Making you feel alone, making you think I hate you. Anything else that I owe you for," Arthur said, leaning in so slowly that Chole did not even notice until the distance between them were only one or two inches apart.
"Let go of my face," Chole commanded, trying to stay strong.
"No," Arthur said. "You know that I love you…"
"I don't," Chole said in a bitter tone. She sent him her best glare before walking away towards the nearest bus stop.
Truth is, I do. But I can't let him know that.
A/N: I've recently got into the Hetalia fandom again, so I might be revisiting my other Hetalia stories. Maybe. It's not confirmed.
