Finally, an afternoon alone and Elphaba had a chance to read. Galinda wasn't here to bother her, how could it get any better than this? The door creaked open, and Elphaba sighed, she knew this was too good to be true.

"Hi, Elphie" her bubbly roommate greeted, almost floating over to Elphaba's bed and sitting beside her.

Elphaba marked her place and closed her book, "Hi, Galinda" she mumbled, and began to read again.

Galinda got her I-have-to-tell-you-something look on her face. Elphaba couldn't decide if she should try to ignore her, or just get it over with. Apparently, she didn't have much of a choice.

"Oh, Elphie guess what happened to me at breakfast this morning" she didn't give her roommate a chance to guess; "This girl was smiling at me, and talking to me. I think she was coming on to me, I'm pretty sure she was gay"

Elphaba cleared her throat, "So, why are you telling me this? Why should I care? I don't care. What did have for lunch today?"

Galinda pouted a bit, "Well, you don't have to get all defensive about it, Elphie"

"I'm NOT getting defensive! What do I care about some gay girl you met? Okay, I'm trying to read" Elphaba said through gritted teeth.

"I didn't mean anything by it Elphie; I just think it's something we should be able to talk about"

"I don't want to talk about it, Galinda this conversation is over"

"Yeah, but Elphie-"

"OVER!"

"Fine, but just so you know. If you were gay, that'd be alright. I mean, you're my best friend in the whole world, and if it were me, I would feel free to say that I was gay. But I'm not gay"

Elphaba sighed, "Galinda, seriously stop, I'm trying to read"

Galinda didn't stop, "Elphie, if you were queer"

"Oz, help me" the green girl whispered to herself.

"I wouldn't let that ruin our friendship, I hope you understand that"

"Uh, Galinda" Elphaba buried her face in her hands, "Please, I'm trying to read"

"I'll always be here for, Elphie"

"Galinda!" Elphaba growled.

"Because, I meant it when I said you were my best friend and I know that you would accept me too, if I told you that I was gay. But I'm not gay"

Elphaba just decided to give up on reading her book; she was a fool to think Glinda would shut up long enough for her to read.

"I'm happy being friends with you, Elphie" the blonde said.

"Really, Galinda I appreciate this, but do we really have to talk about it now?"

The blonde girl thought for a few seconds, "I guess not, but I wanted to let you know that it doesn't matter to me what you do in bed with girls"

Try as she might, Elphaba couldn't think of anything to say. Galinda on the other hand, was still going strong.

"I'm serious Elphie, I wouldn't care if you were gay. I'd be right here, supporting you, and I wouldn't get in your way. I'll always be here to tell you that it's perfectly alright. You were just born that way, it's in your DNA. You're gay"

Elphaba threw her book on the floor, "I am not gay"

"If you were gay" said Galinda.
