My Funny Valentine

For the valentine's contest over at the glitchwyatt lj, which ended, so... The song mentioned doesn't belong to me. Tin Man isn't mine either. Enjoy and Happy late V-Day!

DG's Grand Valentine's Day Ball was upon them. After weeks of preparing for the event the day was finally here.

Glitch, DG, Azkadellia, they were all ecstatic over the idea. The Cain's … not so much. Jeb had almost manage to excuse his way out of having to attend, but DG caught him in his attempts and pretty much demanded he turn up.

So, with a previously unimaginable amount of red, pink, and white decorations adorning the ballroom of the Northern Palace, with guests pouring in from the rapidly recovering O.Z., the party began.

As Cain had been on watch just before the event began, he'd been late to arrive, and by the time he did manage to get in the door, the ball was in full swing. Couples danced about on the floor, other's mingled around the walls and by the many tables offering food and wine. One face caught his eyes in a crowd of other presumably single attendees.

Glitch stood in a corner, a frown tugging at his features as the sound system he'd been working to help DG set up for nearly a month now - a toy from the other side - played on, with music Cain was sure appealed to the man's sense of rhythm. He wondered why the headcase was sidelined when everyone else was having so much fun. Surely he could teach anyone in the room how to improve their movements on the dance floor.

Then he figured out why.

A gaggle of equally single countesses and other noble-women approached the men, obviously looking for a dance partner. Several took a moment to stare at Glitch before choosing a less metallic partner. It was undoubtedly not his fine clothes that had grabbed their attention, undoubtedly it had been the silver zipper.

Cain decided to remedy that situation.

"They don't know what they're missing." He stealthily snuck up behind the other man, who was quite obviously surprised to have received such a compliment.

"Cain!" The headcase proclaimed, nearly falling into the other man in his haste to turn. "I'm afraid that no one else seems to think so."

"Well, then," He smiled, offering a hand. "May I?"

Glitch grinned.

The song that rang through the magically powered speaker system was performed by one of the most famous singers on the other side, at least, according to what they'd gathered from DG. Frank Sinatra seemed to be a pretty talented man, and now, actually listening to the song, Cain had to agree.

The song, called 'My Funny Valentine,' most definitely described his dance partner, and, more to the point the relationship that was slowly developing between them. They'd been dancing around each other in a figurative sense practically since they'd met, and now it seemed was the time to start dancing in the literal sense.

A quick glance in the Princesses direction told him DG might have nudged some things along for them, as she watched in satisfaction while her sister danced with Jeb. Instead of glaring at her for interfering, he smiled instead, returning his attention to his own dance partner as she went on to dance with her father.

"Hey, Glitch?" He whispered in the other man's ear, loud enough to be heard over the music, but not by anyone else. "You wanna be my valentine?"

He felt, more than actually saw, Glitch falter in his steps for a second, before tham man nodded enthusiastically. "Why, yes!" He declared, moving about with a renewed spirit as the song came to it's close.

With the final noted, Cain pressed closer, brushing his lips against the other's in a soft kiss.
