"Goodbye" From Audio Adrenaline
Disclaimer: I own the world. Well…most of it…if you count .00000000000000001 percent as most…hmm…if only I could own Lord of the Rings.
-----------------------------------------------------------
It was raining.
The whole world seemed to be crying, crying over the loss of a loved one.
You'll be fine
tomorrow
The sun will rise…
Somewhere beneath the storm clouds and rain, two dark figures were huddled on a field. The field was covered in orc carcasses and weapons. The grass was stained crimson.
It's never easy to say goodbye
Upon closer inspection, one of the shapes was lying on its back, while the other hunched over it, holding it like a lifeline.
You know I'll
always love you
You know I always will…
He had watched the arrow come towards him, and knew he was trapped. There was no way he could move from his current position in enough time to avoid it.
Why did he have to slip!? That cursed rain the previous night had loosened the soil and brought him onto his stomach, in enough time for an orc to shoot an arrow at him.
He remembered all the memories he had, looking over his moments of life, the joyful and the unfortunate. He thought about all his dear ones, and how they had made him smile, silently apologizing to each and every one for leaving.
He then prepared himself for death.
But the arrow had never struck.
Goodbye,
goodbye, goodbye
My old friend…
When he opened his eyes, he saw a dead orc in front of him. Surprised, he looked into the panting but triumphant face of his best friend. Despite the situation, he couldn't help but laugh as he silently thanked the valar that his friend's skill with a bow was better than the orc's.
Goodbye,
goodbye, goodbye
We've reached the end…
They let their guard down.
One moment had been too late for him to shout a cry of warning as he saw a dark shadow arise behind his friend. He then horrifyingly witnessed the enemy bring a scimitar down upon the victim's skull.
Thus it was that Legolas Thranduillion passed from the currents of the world.
I don't cry with
sorrow, I cry with joy
The memories we made can't be destroyed…
As he saw blood poor out from his friend's head, his vision went red…
The orcs would pay.
He raised his sword, and charged towards the orc with a battle cry that would challenge a balrog. The look on his face resembled a demon.
He slew orc after orc, fighting with a fury he hadn't felt in a long time. One stroke of his sword was all it took to swipe the upper body off its legs.
He fought with all the mercy of Mordor, to avenge the friend he had just lost.
It was a long time after the entire battlefield lay in ruins that he stopped his rampage.
You know I won't forget you
You know I never
could…
It was then that he finally ran over and collapsed next to the body of his friend. There he knelt like a stone; unwilling to move and unwilling to break.
He gently picked up the body and buried his forehead into his friends shoulder.
And when I said
I loved you
You know I meant for good…
It was raining.
You know I'll
always love you
Goodbye…
Somewhere under the storm clouds and rain, Aragorn wept over the loss of a loved one.

Whew! My first attempt at a fic other than humor! It's a very cliché story I know, but mostly all of my stories are aren't they? Anyway, would anyone like to review? I'll post more that way!!! (seriously!) The song "Goodbye" was the song Audio Adrenaline wrote to say goodbye after 15 years. So in a way it's sort of a tribute to them….not really….but sort of.
