A pretty little hand-made star
Which hung from its golden chain
Silver star held dear to heart
And when in sight, eased pain.
He remembered her sweet smile
How she had offered to come
Refuse he had to, but couldn't
To his will, she then succumbed.
The star dangles, reminding
Of the danger he now faced
One strike, two, the star shines bright
Like her face, where a smile graced.
"You'll come back, won't you?" Her words,
His promise of coming back
She knows he is true, and will
Wait forever in his lack.
The pretty star shines bright now
As the Darkness, still not slain
He tries to deflect, misses,
As she waits for him, in vain.
"You will have to give it back,"
Her words, he knows deep inside
"Kairi, I'm so sorry…"
She hears him, eyes opened wide.
"SORA!" she screams, falling down
His voice she no longer hears
His smile she no longer sees
And she sits alone in tears.
"You promised, Sora!" She cursed
His name aloud she tries to shout
Crying, she tries to run for him
He is dying without a doubt.
And so two souls, connected
By the star on a pretty chain
Though loving, and miles apart
Will never see each other again.

Footnotes: Originally written to compare Sora to Riku, then it changed because I hated the first version. This poem won frst prize on AllPoetry, in a contest for poems on games. Originally, I supported SoraxKairi, but I think - subconsciously - I wanted Sora not to end with Kairi, so I killed him off. It's the sort of event when the pen takes charge.
