Lee's Letters
Lee never knew if Sakura read his letters but he continued to send them anyway. Persistence! Perseverence! These were the words which he lived by after all, and he industriously applied them to his love life as well.
He normally sent Sakura letters whenever his mission trips lasted for more than two days. He figured that an admirer should constantly show his everlasting affection through firm and concrete actions, and stubbornly stuck to his letter-writing routine even if it meant having to carry additional writing scrolls and three spare pens in his kit. He'd rather take a kunai in the heart than miss a day of letter-writing, and no amount of disgusted snorts from Neji nor eye-rolling from Tenten was going to stop him either.
"Can't you write that after we finish this mission?" Tenten had hissed exasperatedly while they were plunging through a forest once.
Pen gripped in between his teeth, scratching frantically at a spare scroll, Lee ignored her. He was too engrossed trying to calligraph the words 'love' and 'miss you' while trying to dodge tree branches and he wasn't doing a particularly good job of it, seeing that both his hands were occupied in swinging him forward, and the scroll bouncing off his right shoulder wasn't making an effective writing pad either.
He also wisely chose to ignore Neji's snort from behind.
Whenever he had the opportunity to post his hastily scribbled letters, he would immediately seize it. Post offices in the many villages they visited were always his first port of call.
"We'll meet you at the sushi shop, okay?" Tenten would inform, rather than ask.
Lee would nod, give her the thumbs up, and make a beeline for the post office. Just before he dropped his much abused letter into the wide slot, he'd take a furtive look around to check if his intrusive team mates were hovering nearby. And once satisfied that they'd disappeared, he'd rapidly shower the sealed scroll with kisses before popping it into the slot.
Gai-sensei had once told him that love letters should always be sealed with a kiss.
Lee figured that a little extra wouldn't hurt.
