Tracy stepped inside the dark makeshift surgery, taking the brunt of Theo's weight. He'd been hurt bad and she didn't know if he could heal in time to take on the beast. After a few more steps she let him down on the stone floor and knelt right down beside him. Brown eyes looked down at his wound but all she could see was blood. She reached out to inspect it as her pale hands turned crimson.

"This looks bad, Theo."

Her eyes stayed fixed on her hand until she felt his reach up and cup her cheek gently. As he eyes looked to his, a small smile quirked up the corners of her lips. She'd been wishing that there could be something between them but Theo had never seemed interested. He was too obsessed with power to look at her as anything more than a helping hand to get that. But now as he looked at her, she started to hope.

Tentatively, she leaned in to press a soft kiss to his lips. She wasn't sure what to expect, the kanima hadn't ever kissed anyone before and was just going off what she'd seen in movies. It only lasted a second but her heart was racing so hard she was sure it would explode. She let her eyes flicker open and saw that look in his eyes, inviting her back in. Their lips moved together and she quickly shifted so her hips straddled his.

Every taste of him made her want even more and her lips made their way down along the soft skin of his throat. It was hard to believe that such harsh words came from a part of him that tasted like heaven. But Theo was still injured and as she heard him whimper in pain she reluctantly pulled back.

"Maybe we need to stop; or figure out another plan just..take a couple more days to think about it."

He wasn't pleased with her answer but she didn't want him to get hurt. He was the only person in the whole world that she cared about and she couldn't bear to lose him. She continued on with reasons that he should wait. She couldn't take his pain. She would in a second if she could. Tracy would have endured endless pain if it meant he wouldn't feel any. He said it was okay and she felt like he truly accepted her. Once the beast was dead they could find happiness with each other.

A tiny smile played on her lips as Theo mentioned something else she could do. Tracy had heard that being close to pack could help a member heal. She assumed that it must work for them as chimeras too. He just needed some time by her side and everything would be okay.

But then…

The look in his eyes changed. He wasn't looking at her with that same tenderness, it had morphed into the snide look that he'd given to Josh right before he killed him. Her heart stopped as she refused to accept that what she was seeing was real. Seconds later a sharp pain shot through her lower back, confirming the truth of what was happening.

Tracy screamed out in pain, her normal teeth quickly changing to fangs with the sharp shock. Her own claws dug into his shoulder as she begged for her life. She tried desperately to fight, to hang onto the small amount of power that was left running through her veins.

It was too late. A tear formed in her eye as Theo confirmed that she was as worthless to him as all the others. That she didn't mean anything to him and all that compassion had been a ruse to get her guard down. He wanted to give her that hope just to watch it drain from her along with her life. In those last moments, as the singular drop had fallen from her eye, she knew what she was.

She was nothing.
