The only thing she could hear was a faint buzz in the back of her head. The only thing that registered was the white flash of fang and claw as it tore through soft flesh.
A spray of red that followed was all she saw and there was a flash as her magic exploded from deep inside.
Next she felt the rough ground under her knees, the chaos of battle unimportant as the gasping woman that she held in her arms.
"No, no,no." A shaky hand lifted to- she didn't even know. Her magic was low, the fight having gone on for far longer than any of them had predicted. She scrambled deep for some semblance of her power.
"Fuck."
Blood trickled from the blonde's mouth, making the small grin that curled on her lips seem highly inappropriate.
"Dirty mouth you got there Mayor," Emma wheezed as her wounds continued to bleed out onto the ground, onto Regina herself.
"Shh, shh, you…you have to hang on. We'll get someone who still has magic to fix you right up. Alright? Just, just don't talk." The brunette was almost frantic as she saw the wounds the beast had rendered.
"Re-" a strangled cough bubbled up, pain etched across the younger woman's face. "Regina. You'll be there for Henry, yea? I know it."
Biting back a cry, tears were streaming down olive-toned skin as her head shook in denial. "Dammit Emma. You fought me for all that time, stay and be there for himwithme. You're the damn Savior. Who will be my savior now?"
Her strength quickly fading, she still managed to raise a hand up to try and brush some tears away. Dark smears followed the trail of her hand that she couldn't see as her vision began to blur.
"Looks like I can't. Believe me, I want to. Keep on saving you over and over. Guess it's just not in the cards for me anymore." Her voice began to trail. She fought just a little bit more. "Won't get another chance. Love you, you crazy witch."
Regina let out a choked sob, as she smiled. "I love you too, Em-" She looked down and saw that green eyes had slipped closed.
She would look back and remember this is when her heart broke. The moment she realized she still had enough of a heart to break. Tears ran freely as she leaned down to place her lips against blood-stained ones.
