Walking By Christine

~*~*~

I'm walking through the station, Each step I take is louder, Each stair leading down is longer, The floor beneath me is blurred, Ever since I heard the news.

I'm walking along the docks, The creaking of the wooden planks, Echo loudly through my mind, Each gap I must now leap to cross, Ever since I heard the news.

I'm walking along the beach, My feet sink deeper with each step, The hard stones I step on are harder, The water is warm but I feel only coldness, Ever since I heard the news.

I'm walking along the streets, The sound of my shoes on the pavement, Overpowers the cars, trucks, the noise never ends, The twig beneath me and inside me snaps as I tread, Ever since I heard the news.

I'm kneeling at your grave, The sharp stones dig into my knees and pain engulfs me, Your embedded name reaches out and grabs me, Your voice circulates around my mind, Ever since I heard the news.

I'm walking home, Leaving two sets of footprints, You block the noise and fight the pain, And tell me I will never walk alone again, Now that I have heard the news.
