A/N: So, I'm taking a creative writing course to satisfy my remaining art credit. This week's assignment was to write a monologue, it is something I struggled greatly with. I had a few poignant write ups but they all felt severely lacking. So, I decided to write a pseudo fanfic. Even though no names are mentioned and they are a little OOC, I envisioned Hermione as the villain and Harry as the hero. To be honest, I threw this together before class (the truck broke down on the way to class and needed a tow plus $400 worth of work on the truck). I decided to post it here even if it isn't that great because, what the hell right?
Every Villian's Downfall

"It's not about blood purity, family lineage means nothing. Even magical strength only accounts for so much, but intelligence… intelligence is what makes a person truly capable. I never fit into the 'normal' world, intelligence isn't valued as highly as looks, popularity, or athletic ability. In the magical world, it has always been about lineage and power. One is nothing in our society if they are not born into a long line of wealthy magicians. Intelligence is overlooked in every culture on this miserable planet.
But, no longer. No longer will we have a world based on heritage, looks or swagger. We will have a world that values intelligence, hard work and dedication, for that is where true exceptionalism lies. I will build a society where the gifted, talented and exceptionally bright rule. Those without a formidable intellect will be relegated to the mundane, the everyday tasks where they actually belong. No more coddling the sniveling rich gits who lack two brain cells to rub together. No longer will the so-called elite skate through on the basis of their family name or how well they can grease a palm. No… it shan't be.
I will create a society where every door is open to those who deserve it. Children will be scouted at young ages for signs of intelligence, they will be educated and celebrated and they will change the world and recognized for their achievements. And I,I, will finally be celebrated for my intellectual abilities. The realm will acknowledge I belong here, and at the top of the totem pole too, I might add.
But first, I need to rid the world of you, and those like you. Imbeciles skating through the ranks on a sickening display of raw power, popularity and family name. Ugh, it's abhorrent to even think about your status when I know all too well just how many spells are in your repertoire. You wouldn't have even passed the first years of training if it weren't for me. And who are you now? The 'Golden Child' of the magical realm, while I slave away in the drudgery of research and spell development, spells that I cannot even claim credit for as 'all spells belong to the magical world, not to a single person'. Isn't that what you, and others on the council, have always spouted? Well, no more.
First you, then the rest of the drooling idiots that make up the ruling class…"
With a crack, the hero finally overcame her containment spell. He may not have the knowledge she has, but he has a rather deep well of raw power. He had just needed time to gather the necessary amount in his magical core. Though the villain woke rather quickly after having been knocked out by the concussive force, he already had her bound with magic-infused ropes. They were inescapable, even for one with a vast array of spell knowledge, she was the one who designed them, after all. The irony wasn't lost on her as she glared at him with pure hatred in her eyes.
"Monologing," he said. "The downfall of every villain," a wry smile graced his lips, "Even the intelligent ones."
