Something from a future book of Shifters. Please review. The song is For Reasons Unknown by the Killers. I thought it fit perfectly.

Cassidy stands in her room, beside an open suitcase. Ready to leave to America.

She stares into the mirror.

I pack my case
I check my face
I look a little bit older
I look a little bit colder
With one deep breath
With one big step
I move a little bit closer
I move a little bit closer

"Cassidy, don't go," Mark pleads.

"Leave me alone," She snaps viciously.

"Please," he grabs her wrist.

She breaks free of his grasp. "I'm going."

For reasons unknown
I caught my stride
I flew and flied
I know that if destiny's kind
I've got the rest of my life

She remembers how it began as she walks up the stairs of the plane. It'll all be gone once she's there. She'll be free.

"I loved you," she whispers.

But my heart, it don't beat
It don't beat the way it used to
And my eyes, they don't see you no more
And my lips, they don't kiss
They don't kiss the way they used to
And my eyes don't recognise you no more

Memories of his lie. Memories flood into her brain.

"Cassidy, I'm sorry."

"You lied to me, this whole time you used me! You're not who you pretended to be!"

For reasons unknown

Her father's e-mail. Inviting her to come live with him. To be free with him.

There was an open chair
We sat down in the open chair
I said if destiny's kind
I've got the rest of my life

"But Cassidy- It's not what you think! I love you! I really do!"

"Shut up! I'm going to find him. And when I do, I'll find the truth!"

But my heart, it don't beat
It don't beat the way it used to
And my eyes they don't see you no more
And my lips, they don't kiss
They don't kiss the way they used to
And my eyes don't recognise you at all

His real face, it haunts her memories. She can't make it go away. It was a lie. Her father made him do it. Soon she would know the truth.

Then, the memory of that one kiss. The one that had said the truth. She shook her head. No, he deceived you.

Said my heart, it don't beat
It don't beat the way it used to
And my eyes don't recognise you no more
And my lips, they don't kiss
They don't kiss the way they used to
And my eyes don't recognise you at all

She got off the plane and saw her father. Not the new person. The father her mother had fallen in love with. Just like Cassidy. She too had fallen for a lie, and she couldn't take the sight of him anymore.

She cried in the arms of her father, but instead, she felt Mark's cold arms around her. She cried as she remembered his kiss.

She never wanted to go back, nor did she want to stay here.
