Helga looked around the darkly lit room wondering, just how in the world she managed to get herself into this mess again. A slight chill in the air made her suddenly realize how incredibly naked she was at the moment. She always hated how she felt when she ended up at his house. All he had to do was send a text and there she'd be. Like magic.

She looked over to the sleeping blonde next to her and let out a deep sigh. Careful not to wake him up she slipped quietly off the freshly destroyed bed and tip toed to the couch where she left her belongings. As she packed up her bags she took a moment to take in the scenery.

Nothing had changed that much. A new laptop, a clock that actually worked, and a picture of him and his current love interest, Mara. Her stomach did a nauseating flip and her blood went cold. It was time for her to leave.

She left that night and decided to not look back. To finally grow the backbone she had always kept locked up when it came to Arnold Shortman. There was only a few days left at school. She just needed to make it to graduation.

Arnold woke up reaching for something he knew wouldn't be there. She never was after a night of making love. She hated it when he called it that, "We aren't in love Arnold. It's not right," it was her go to line. To be very honest he loved the girl to death. But it was complicated.

He needed to hear her say she wanted to be with him. That she loved him back. Till then he filled his time with various relationships. Like Mara. Sweet trusting Mara. He felt bad for her but she had that personality that got under Helga's skin like no other.

He got ready and headed out for school. It felt like a typical day. He took the same way, met Mara by the front gates and walked to the quad where Gerald would be waiting for him with Phoebe right by his side. That's when her noticed she wasn't there. She wasn't there at lunch either.

"Hey, Phoebe, does Helga have some sort of Ap thing or something?"

The young girl looked up. A glare radiated from her eyes. Gaining her composure she replied in annoyance, "Why, Arnold you should know we don't have work left with graduation so close. Helga, just didn't feel like being in certain company today." She shot another glare in Mara's direction. Lucky for Arnold she wrapped up in a game on her phone.

After school she decided to check the library. That was her usual stomping ground, but as he approached it he noticed she was already on the quickly on the move. He was absorbed in her back for a moment. Or more her backend. She had grown into her features quite nicely. Lost in his thoughts he failed to notice a tiny redhead next to him.

She studied his lovesick face and let out a giggle, "I doubt Mara would approve of those looks your giving Helga."

His face instantly started to burn, "Hey Lila! I didn't see you there." That's when he noticed a tiny blush spreading across the girls face.

"Arnold, I…um…well…down there…"

That's when he became very aware of his very stiff problem currently going on downstairs. "LILA I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM" he ran as fast as could to the closest restroom ignoring the laughter that was erupting behind him.

With his situation finally under control he was finally able to clear his head. She was on his mind a lot lately. It started as just video game sessions then movies, then somehow something shifted and that led to kissing, and kissing led to…well kissing led to his recent problem. He grabbed his bags and exited the restroom, not expect Lila to be at the door waiting for him.

She had really turned out to be something. Long hair and thick bangs with pale skin and scattered freckles. She had on a short black dress with a white peter pan collar and tiny mary jane heels. She was quite the looker. But she never dated. Rumor had it she wasn't interested in it.

With a cheery smile she greeted him for the second time that day, "Hello Arnold! I was just hoping to catch up! We haven't chatted in ever so long and I have just been dying to know what college you were going to!"

"Oh…well sure I guess we could walk home together and catch up."

"Oh Arnold, I would love that just ever so much!"

The walk was pleasant. They talked about school and old times. Even the brief moment when they had dated. All in all things were going smooth. Then she said something that really caught his attention, "Well before our run in I was just discussing housing with Helga and how it will be so much fun to board with a friend!"

"Helga and you?" Shocked didn't begin to cover how he felt.

"Why yes we both managed to get into Cal State Long Beach! It's a wonderful school and her father was able to set her up with a tiny apartment close by so naturally we decided we should move into together! We've been friends for such a long time." A dreamy look took over the girl's face. She seemed caught in a day dream.

"I see. I was actually hoping to stop by her house later and see if she wanted to come over and play some GTA. She kinda likes running everyone over." He was doing a horrible job at hiding his panic. How could she not tell him she was going out of state?

"Oh dear that might be a bit difficult Arnold. You see Helga is actually leaving tomorrow morning to get everything settled in. With school ending soon and all She figured why not get a head start." Her face seemed apologetic but something in her hazel eyes didn't mirror that. "In fact from my understanding she is currently at Olga's. They are leaving to the airport together. I'm not sure what time."

She studied the look on Arnold's face. Confusion, hurt, and hint of rage. A smirk graced her own face. He deserved this. "Well Arnold, I'm sure this is my stop. I will see you around." She took one glance back, enjoying the view. Helga was a good girl. She didn't deserve to be second to anyone.

Arnold walked onward to his own home. Feeling like he lost something important. He couldn't chase after her. He didn't even know how to. Helga was a master of disappearing when she wanted to. It then dawned on him. Yesterday was the last he would ever see of her, hold her, kiss her. He would never be able to tell her how much he really loved her. He would never get his chance.
