Based on the song by Joseph Arthur- another drabble about Nate and Sophie's relationship.

I do not own Leverage, its characters or 'Love Never Asks You To Lie' by Joseph Arthur or any of his lyrics.

November 12th was a nice night to pretend that no other man would come at Sophie like Nate had once done; a nice night to pretend that there was only their love. A nice night to get married; to make their two lives become one.

Sophie had spent most of her life lying to herself and to everyone she had met; she had spent most of her life not being true to a point where she wasn't even sure if there was such thing as truth. But, looking into Nate's eyes, feeling it in his hand when he placed the ring on her finger, she knew that he, them, were the closest thing to truth that she had ever known.

He had heard her cry; properly cry, like a baby, none of this acting crying. She had never had to pretend. And it was perfect.

Love had never asked her to lie about how she felt. It took away every disguise she had ever placed upon herself, even those she didn't know she had and made her see clearly again.

Sure, in their future there would be a distinct lack of what their life had once been.

Western Union bank would now be used as an actual bank and not as a possible target.

Cars and Cadillac's would be for fun, not for trying to turn a mark.

Bankers would be bankers, not marks.

Ice cream would be ice cream and not something used to try and convince a mark your love was real.

No more lies. No more un-truths. Not to themselves, not in their lives, not in their relationship.

At least, not for a little while.

Because, as much as November 12th was a nice night to pretend there was only their love, it was also a perfect night to start conning again; a nice night to start grifting, planning and stealing again.
