Sakura and Syaoran were standing on top of a cliff; a beautiful sight lay before them. The ocean spread out as far as they could see, a small village just visible at the waters edge if they looked slightly to the left.
Sakura looked up at Syaoran, a smile on both their faces before a dark cloud appeared above them, killing the sunlight and the warmth it provided. Sakura looked up to the cloud then back at Syaoran who had a pained expression on his face. "Syaoran? What's wrong?" she asked as Syaoran stepped away from her and closer to the edge of the cliff.
"What are you doing?" Sakura asked worriedly as Syaoran took another step closer to the edge, "I'm so sorry." Syaoran whispered back before Sakura broke into small sobs at the feeling of dread coursing throughout her body, thunder and lightning crashing overhead. "What's happening?" she called to her lover whose shape was blurred by the tears in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry." Syaoran repeated as his face scrunched up in pain. His figure blurred more in Sakura's eyes as her tears poured relentlessly from her eyes as the Heavens opened and released tears of their own. "What do you mean you're sorry? Get away from the edge!" Sakura yelled as Syaoran gave her a small, sad smile that she could barely see before his body tilted backwards and then disappeared over the edge.
"Syaoran!" Sakura yelled as she sat bolt upright in bed, her room pitch black, the bed next to hers was empty. Sakura eyes frantically scanned the room, looking for any sign of Syaoran. "Syaoran." She whispered before sobs shook her small frame.
"Sakura?" Syaoran said, sounding frightened as he ran to his lovers side and wrapped his arms around her tightly. He rubbed circles soothingly on Sakura's back with one hand while the other brushed through her hair, occasionally kissing the top of her head while she clung to Syaoran's t-shirt.
"What's wrong?" Syaoran asked once Sakura's sobs had quietened down to sniffles, although her grip still remained as tight. "I had a nightmare. You left me." She whispered into Syaoran's shoulder. "You left me." She repeated as more tears well up in her eyes.
A brief look of pain flashed over Syaoran's face at seeing his lover so distressed. "Don't worry Princess, it was only a nightmare, I'm still right here, I'll always be right here." He said as Sakura listened to the sound of Syaoran's voice and his heartbeat. "I'll never leave you."
"Promise?" Sakura asked as she looked up at Syaoran with watery, hopeful eyes which Syaoran wiped the tears from, "I promise." He whispered back against the Princesses lips as he kissed her gently. "Now, get some sleep ok?" Syaoran said as he laid Sakura back down. Before he could move to stand, Sakura grasped his wrist gently.
"Can you sleep with me tonight?" she asked quietly making Syaoran smile. "Of course." Sakura smiled and moved over allowing Syaoran the room to lift the covers and join her on the narrow bed. Syaoran held Sakura close to him and ran his fingers through her hair until her breathing deepened as she fell asleep.
"I'll always be here for you Princess, always." He whispered into the dark room as he gave Sakura a final kiss to the top of his head before he closed his eyes, still holding his lover close.
