Disclaimer: I own nothing.  Well, I do own my computer and a car.  Big whoop!  Wish I owned Speed and Delko thought!  *grins evilly*

Authors' notes: For my happy little dream world lets pretend that TPTB have Speed and Calleigh together as a couple.  Tim knows some about Calleigh's history, but not everything.

After her father left, Calleigh made her way to the break room.  She felt the need to pump her system full of caffeine.  Calleigh paused in the doorway when she saw Tim pouring himself a cup of coffee.  "Hi," she said, oddly unsure about how to act around him.

"Hey," he greeted in return.  Speed regard her for a moment before saying, "so, your dad."

A slight smiled curved her lips.  "Yeah."

"How's he doing?"

A shrug.  "He's dad, you know."

"Uh huh.  I take it you had to drag him out of the bar again?"

She saw he was angry at the thought.   "Don't start Tim," she insisted wearily.

He held up his hands in mock surrender.  "Not starting."

Finally she moved out of the doorway and poured herself a cup of coffee.  From the corner of her eye Calleigh could see him leaning against the counter studying her.  His arm brushed hers as he pushed off and went to sit down.

It hurt Calleigh to think of how her dad's appearance always affected them this way.  Tim would feel angry with her father and she would feel defensive and they'd argue.  She disliked fighting with Tim.  Sighing she sat down next to him.  "I know what you think of him …"

"I just don't like it when he shows up like this.  You spend the next few days looking so lost."  He reached up and tucked a stay piece of hair behind her ears.  He laid his palm against her cheek.  "You're never lost unless it's him."

Calleigh looked at Tim, and licked her lips nervously.  "Or you," she added softly.  His hand dropped away.  "Not the same way, though," she explained.  "I look in your eyes Tim and I get lost."

He smirked.  "I've been told I have that effect on women."  She punched him lightly in the arm.

"Ow," he whined playfully.  "Careful, I bruise easy."  He then grew serious.  "I know he's your dad and you love him.  And I can see, when he *is* sober how much he adores you.  But the fact that he waltzes in her and turns you life upside down with his binges pisses me off.  I realize I don't know a lot about you and your family, and that's okay for now, but I know you are not some little girl who's easily intimidated.  I can't stand it when he does this to you."

"Tim, I really don't want to go through this again," she said, anger seeping into her words.  "I just get so sick and tired of the same fight every time."

Speed looked away.  "So it boils down to this every time?"

Calleigh sighed and took his chin in her hand, forcing him to look at her.  "I think I understand how you feel and I hope you understand where I'm coming from.  He's my daddy, and I love him.  But I love you, too.  Nothing will ever change any of that."

He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers.  "Okay, subject dropped," Speed whispered.  Then he straightened up.  "As much as I hate it …"

"Back to work," Calleigh finished with a chuckle.  "Tonight at dinner?"

He smiled and nodded.  "Yeah."

End.
