I do not own FMA. This is cheesy but I couldn't resist. Takes place after Edward comes home from his trip at the end of Brotherhood. Review!

Their eyes caught as the door swung shut behind him. The light breeze from the closing door ruffled Ed's braid as he did his best to avert his gaze. "Hey." Edward murmured, barely giving Winry a second glance.

"Hey? All I get is hey? I want to hear you say it." Winry cocked her hip and folded her arms across her chest, eyeing Edward carefully.

His feet were placed firmly on the hardwood, the suitcase he had just set down leaned slightly against his automail leg. He was mystified; his back ached from the incredibly long train ride and his eyes were heavy. This had not been the welcoming he had thought he would receive.

"Well?" She demanded, a sharp edge becoming apparent in her tone. She had her work clothes on, and her blonde ponytail brushed against her skin. Winry's wrench was still in her hand and it was apparent to Edward that she was about to brandish it if he didn't come up with an answer.

"Winry," He groaned tiredly, "What are you talking about?"

Her cheeks flamed, which he would have thought was endearing had she not been angry with him. "What did you tell me right before you got on the train, Edward?" She spit his name like it was poison.

His golden eyes widened in comprehension, much to her satisfaction. She could tell that the event was being replayed in his mind as it had been in hers every night since he left. Had he forgotten? Of course not, she chided herself. He actually called while he was away, he couldn't have forgotten.

He cleared his throat and averted his gaze, which was much easier now since he had grown taller than her over the prior years. He knew his cheeks matched the scarlet of hers.

"What about it?" He mumbled, slightly embarrassed and somewhat afraid that she had changed her mind.

Her blue eyes darkened as she frowned at him. She had replayed their meeting over and over in her head and this was not how it was supposed to happen. He was supposed to hug her and tell her how much he had missed her. Or he was going to pick her up and twirl her around with happiness. They would hug and he would kiss her. Really kiss her, but instead she got this.

Swallowing her pride, Winry searched for his gaze until sapphire met ocher; she forced him to look at her. Quietly, "I just wanted you to tell me you missed me, Ed." Her defensive stance changed and became a self-conscious one, her arms were crossed and her shoulders were slumped; she dropped her gaze to the gnarled floor boards.

"I did miss you." The thump of the suitcase and his heavy footfalls an indication that he was closing the gap between them. He touched her chin, knowing exactly what she deserved to hear. "I missed you every second I was gone, Gearhead." He smiled lightly at her, making her heart flutter.

"I missed you too, alchemy freak." She smiled up at him and let him wrap her in his arms. Breathing him in, he reminded her of home, it had been what was aching inside her all of the months he had been gone.

Now or never, Edward thought, taking her chin in his hand and softly bringing his lips to hers. The kiss was long and sweet, but the best part was feeling her smile against him.
