Danny wasn't really comfortable with this, but Lindsay told him it meant that Mac had a lot of confidence in him. His first time being the supervisor in charge. His first time training/supervising someone new, by himself. He was being given the opportunity to prove that he had grown as a person and a CSI.
Mac and Hawkes had gone to a conference in Philadelphia. Stella and Adam had both mysteriously came down with the flu. So that left Danny and Lindsay to take care of the lab and take on whatever case or crime came in.
Of course, Danny wasn't worried. He and Lindsay worked well together. Even as a married couple, they still had the ability to work together and be professional, only showing any loving gestures when they were in a room together alone.
They had been called to the scene by Flack at 6 a.m. They had been working non-stop already, so they figured now would be a good time to take a break. After making himself a cup of coffee and Lindsay a cup of tea, he joined Lindsay at one of the tables in the break room.
He checked his watch nervously, his eyes looking around to see if he could see any new faces. "What time's he supposed to be here, again?"
"Mac said noon. Relax, Dan, you're going to do fine."
He cocked a grin at her, "Thanks babe. How you doin so far today?"
Just then he saw a new face looking in at them from the other side of the glass. Danny motioned for him to come in.
"Mac Taylor?"
"He's outta town on business," Danny explained standing up to shake the man's hand, "I'm Danny Messer. This is Lindsay Monroe. I'll be the one trainin' with ya today."
Lindsay legally went by Messer, but at work and on the job she went by Monroe. It began confusing people, even with her first initial on paperwork.
"Name's Tom Stafford," Tom shook Danny's hand, barely looking at Lindsay, "Nice meetin ya."
"Looks like break time is over. Let's get to it," Danny motioned to the door, "See ya later Linds," shooting a wink over his shoulder at her.
Handing Tom a coverall Danny slid into his own. So far things were going good. Tom seemed to understand most of what they were doing, and had some valuable input. They had found a few fingerprints on the evidence he and Lindsay collected from the perimeter earlier that day. They had ran the prints and came up empty.
Lindsay was working on identifying fibers they had found on the victim.
As per the usual, the dumpster from near the scene had been brought in, to see if they could find any evidence that may connect to the crime.
"Are we seriously dumpster diving?" Tom suddenly asked.
"Yep," Danny smirked at him, "It's part of the job."
"I get that but why not have that girl do it? You are the senior CSI on duty, you could make her do it right?"
Danny wasn't sure if he should be shocked or offended for his wife. He knew that he was a little irritated by the comment. But he played it cool, "Ya can't tell it yet, but Lindsay is pregnant. The stench will make her sick. So we are doing it."
Tom shrugged his shoulders, "But her laying on her back and getting pregnant isn't your fault, so what do you care?"
Danny could literally feel his blood start to boil, and his heart start to pound in his chest, "Yeah it kinda is my fault she's pregnant. She's my WIFE!" Composing himself, Danny took a breath in, and slowly let it out. The last thing he needed was to hurt this guy and have charges filed against him, or to lose his job. "I'm gonna let it slide this time, because if I do hurt you I'll have hell to pay, but you had better change your attitude right now. If I ever hear you disrespect her to me or anyone else, I will put you through the nearest wall, and have no remorse in doing so."
He looked at the guy to see if he could see any sign of comprehending what he had just said, but Tom just looked at him, "Let's just get to work."
