It was raining again. Limpid watery flakes sprinkled down from the chalky silver clouds outside. The jet black sky wrapped its dirty hands around the milky white moon. Dallas was in the loft, with his ear pressed against the window listening to the sshhhhhaaaa of rain thumping softly against the glass.

"Watcha' doing Dallas?" Florida curiously asked while she plopped onto the bed. Dallas watched as she sunk into the soft, colorful quilts.

"Listening to the rain," he murmured. The frosted yellow glow of the single light bulb that hung crookedly from the ceiling gave little warmth. And Dallas shivered from the wet cold that seeped through his cotton sweatshirt.

"That's just stupid Dallas," Florida dryly commented, "That's just stupid."

"Well, what are you doing?" Dallas asked while he diverted his attention from the rain to Florida.

"I'm watching a stupid person do stupid things," Florida smirked as she stretched her arms and fell onto the bed.

"I'm tired, so stop doing stupid things," Florida yawned showing a set of just-cleanly-brushed teeth. Dallas stayed silent for a while, then climbed onto his own bed and pulled the covers over his head. It wasn't long before Dallas began to speak again.

"Florida?" Dallas called, his voice was muffled by the blankets.

"Yeah?" Florida responded back and rolled over to her other side.

"You know, I was wondering about – "

"Shut up," Florida sharply cut in, "We're going to be fine so just shut up." Only when Florida heard Dallas whimper a small "okay," she then was able to close her eyes.

Dallas had fallen asleep. Florida listened to his breathing, slowly matching hers with his. And then silence comfortably infused with each breath.

Breathe in.

Silence.

Breathe out.

Silence.
