A moment
‚This is the part where I tell a joke and you giggle, right?' Garrett leaned down and stared her right in the eyes.
'As if.' Iris said lightly. She was leaning against the wall, him standing in front of her, one arm propped against the wall above her head. He resisted when she tried shoving him away.
'Not so fast babe, how about a goodnight kiss?' He grinned expectantly. 'The date went well didn't it?' The self-confident demeanor shifted ever so slightly and Iris could feel the honest question underneath. She could finally push Garrett back a little and slipped past him to her door.
'Yes. It did.' Her reply was careful, measured. She dug out the keys from her bag and turned around only to look into her date's stunning blue eyes, on the same level as hers. The two steps leading up to her apartment had equaled the height difference.
Standing on equal ground, she mused. It wasn't half bad. The keys jingled in her hands and she saw the man's eyes dart to it for a split second. After a moment's hesitation she shoved them into her pocket and waited. What was he going to do now?
But he just stood there, looking at her, rubbing the back of his neck. Her gaze wandered over the spiky blue hair, the edgy jawline, the long slender arms and his equally long slim legs. She felt tiny next to him, a feeling she somehow enjoyed.
'Well erm…' Him clearing his throat tore her from her observations 'I better get going then…'
Idiot, she thought.
In a second she stepped to the edge of the stairs, grabbed his collar with both hands and pulled him close, pressing their lips together. After a smothered yelp of surprise Garrett relaxed against her mouth and returned the kiss, more intent, more eager. She ran her hands along his face; through his hair while he finally lifted one of his to slowly caress the side of her cheek. When she released him he almost gasped for air.
'That was something.' The blue haired man said, unable to hide the grin spreading across his face. 'I wasn't sure…' The sentence trailed off, he didn't want to admit he hadn't dared kiss her.
'Idiot.' This time she said it out loud. 'It was a great evening.' She fished the keys out of her pockets again and opened the door. A hand on her shoulder stopped her and she turned around to find he had stepped up next to her.
'My way now…' He murmured before leaning down and planting a careful kiss on her lips, straightening up slowly after a short while. Her skin was tingling and her eyes sparkled, her lips were slightly parted and she feel could him on her lips still, lingering as softly as a summer breeze, caressing over her flesh.
'Night.' He said before wandering away and being swallowed by darkness.
'Always has to have the last word.' She smiled. Though honestly, she really didn't mind this time.
